Randy Rhodes: I don't know if I have a problem with Meg Whitman as Governor of CA.
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 02:37 PM by bigdarryl
Sorry Randy but I do have a problem with someone spending 80 million dollars even though it's there own money on a 160,000 dollar a year job when people in this country are out of work and living paycheck to paycheck and can't feed there children. It tells me she has no idea what the working person in this country let alone CA is going through bottom line she's out of touch.

2. If Meg Whitman had used some of her money to
actually help other people, it would be different.

I think Meg Whitman just wants to be governor so that she can help the super, super wealthy not pay their fair share of taxes.

5. Another problem
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 02:47 PM by droidamus2
Another problem I have with Whitman and her ilk is that I truly believe people that want to serve the public should have to work their way up just like everyday labor does. By that I mean you don't start at Governor (a la Whitman) but you run for local office or at a minimum state assembly/senate or House of Representatives/Senate at the federal level. People like Whitman seem to think the only qualification for office is being able to outspend your opponent (okay that may be the way it is but that doesn't make it right).

Another thing between her and the closest Republican in the primary they spent over $100 million trying to get the nomination. Yet these very same Republicans would scream bloody hell if the Democrats wanted to put $100 million into a social program. Misplaced priorities if you ask me. For those that want to throw the 'but one is my tax money and the other is their own money' I don't care. If your priorities are your own power and aggrandizement rather than the general welfare of the people of this country then you have your priorities really screwed up.

23. Very possible
I recognize the name, Corzine, but don't remember who he is. My complaint wasn't the it was a 'woman' buying her way in my complaint was that it was a rich person that feels they should start at the top. Sometimes you get the feeling that they think it is their devine right to rule (oh no wait that was back when we had an aristocracy). Until we break the upper classes strangle hold on this country we are all screwed. Before anybody says it yes 'upper class' is a generality I am sure there are some rich people that really do care but the big question is 'are they the ones in charge?'. I don't think so.

6. of course she doesn't have a problem with it
you think Limbaugh really has a problem with an Obama (or any democrat) presidency? Having the opposition on top brings in the viewers/listeners.

9. Meg Whitman as Governor would be big problem
She's made it clear that she is going to balance the budget by targeting services for those who can least afford it. All that money she spent on the campaign, she could have used to put people to work, that would have been something that really helped the state.

16. Do you remember when it was said that
You can grow up to be president! Well, that was then and they meant men. Now it evidently means If you have scads of money you can be president, male or female. It sends the wrong message when election to office depends on how much money one can spend to get there. And the fact that they will spend enormous ammounts of their own money makes me wonder how they would manage our tax dollars. Republicans have become so farcical it isn't even good entertainment. This could become a theme for Democrats until the next election.

19. Randi does not live in California
She is 100% East Coast, and let's stop and remember that this woman called our Sec of State 'vermin' and worse for days on end during the Primary. Vermin. When she could have been the nominee. Think about that, because I do not think much of Rhodes as a Democrat.

Especially since you could say the same thing about the prez spending a quarter billion on the election. There's a TON of real reasons to oppose her.
