2. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't
If he gets involved in the runoff, people will complain that "Washington elites" are trying to dictate who the nominee it. If he doesn't, he will be criticized for allowing the best General Election candidate to lose the primary.

Do people not want him to interfere? Then the DNC will stay out and let the Dem voters there decide.

the DNC Chair is responsible for Party Building and fundraising; the DSCC (Senator Menendez and J.B. Poersch) are responsible for Senate candidates...

...bearing in mind that most of the people here seem to hate it when the national Party involves itself in primaries...
