Lisa Murkowski introduces a bill to undermine the Clean Air Act!
Why am I posting this in GDP, you ask?

Obama Administration Announces Opposition to the Murkowski Resolution

Today the Obama administration released a statement strongly opposing Senate passage of S.J. Res. 26, better known as the Murkowski Resolution. Proposed by Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, with strong support from big oil companies and their lobbyists, this resolution would undermine the Clean Air Act and take away the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate greenhouse gases.

Specifically, the resolution would block a program created by the administration to promote fuel economy standards that would reduce oil consumption, save Americans thousands of dollars in fuel costs, and limit automobile emissions. It would also disrupt efforts to reduce the environmental impact of pollution and risks associated with catastrophes such as the current BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The resolution would take away the EPA’s power to control greenhouse gases and undo the EPA’s efforts to reduce pollution generated by oil companies and refineries and other major polluters.

1. It won't see the light of the day. It'll be stuck in committee, and declared dead.

2. It's mind boggling that anyone could introduce a bill like this NOW.
I agree it won't see the light of day - I think Senators would be too embarrassed to be for it.

4. It is suppose to get a floor vote on Thursday
I hope it loses, but it will be by nowhere near the numbers it should. She has 3 Democratic sponsors.

8. The Blanche Lincoln who said last night voters want us to work for them, not the special interests?

The Blanche Lincoln who had ads run for her by outside Repubican business groups--like 'Americans for Job Security?'

9. How did it come to be she gets a vote on this that requires only 51 votes, and not 60?

The only thing I can think of is that both caucuses said that they would waive a cloture vote. If that is the case, it is even more abundantly clear how much support Kerry has on climate change from the leadership.

It is completely assumed that Kerry's bill needs to pass cloture votes. In fact, in last year's budget, they not only did not put language to enable it to use reconciliation, which would be needed, but they passed an amendment that prohibited it to use reconciliation that passed with 67 votes, including all Republicans and many Democrats. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=1&vote=00126
