I guess Norah O'Donnell didn't hear what she wanted to hear...
Norah O'Donnell (MSNBC) interviewed LA State Senator Butch Gautreux this morning. She was talking about the devastation to his parish and the entire gulf region. Of course, she quickly got to the mandatory question: "Let me ask you about federal involvement. Yesterday, the President's advisor, Carol Browner, said, 'We are prepared for the worst. We have prepared from the beginning.' Do you think President Obama and the White House were prepared from the beginning?"

Gautreux began-"Oh, absolutely! The Coast Guard was out there immediately. Admiral Thad Allen and Mary Landry have been exceptional..."

Then Norah interrupted him (which is a first when anyone from the Gulf is on TV talking about the conditions there) and said, "But Governor Bobby Jindal has been VERY critical of the Federal government's-what he may call-lack of involvement."

Then Gautreux replied that he and Jindal disagree and that JINDAL'S leadership "hasn't been what it should be." He went on to explain that he just found out on Friday that BP had given Jindal $25 million for immediate relief to be given out to the parishes but he has only given out $3 million so far and he's just sitting on the rest.

Norah thanked him for the interview and that was the end of it. I bet HE won't be on MSNBC again.

46. These fake (corporate-owned) reporters want to make their own news
They start with a premise (usually from RW talking points) then they try to find people to back them up. When it works, they are ecstatic to have manipulated public perception. When it doesn't, they quickly go to commercial break.

8. It isn't just the money. He has left most of the Nat'l Guard sit idle as well.
Peterson said that at a meeting Thursday with BP officials, coastal Louisiana legislators and representatives of the Jindal administration, it was disclosed that the state has spent only about $3 million of a $25 million BP grant for spill-related expenses, and that it has not yet issued a contract for BP's $15 million grant to promote tourism attractions threatened by the spill.
It also was revealed that the state has called up only 1,100 of the 6,000 National Guard members authorized for the spill clean-up efforts, Peterson said.

BP cuts $25 million check to Louisiana for Gulf of Mexico oil spill

BP said Wednesday it has given Louisiana $25 million to help finance the state's efforts to protect its coast from oil spilled by the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company, which is responsible for clean-up costs under federal law, said it made similar payments of $25 million each to Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

<...>

Louisiana also received another $15 million: BP grants $70 million to combat travel uncertainties

BP is also granting $15 million each to Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.

The $70 million in tourism grants are in addition to the $25 million for each state’s area contingency plans, according to a BP press release. BP CEO Tony Hayward said the company will provide the money to aid the tourism industry in providing accurate information on the state of beaches. “The Gulf Coast is our home too. We are doing everything we can to plug the leak, contain the spill offshore and protect the shoreline,” he said.
