The Best Framing of the Media Attack on Obama

Certain blogs have a snark to them that always know how to frame things just so.

I find they can sum up the insanity, the inanity, and the sheer dumbness of both the republicans and the media in ways that do not take a thousand words and yet hit it so sweetly.

to sum up the media obsession and attacks on Obama over not emoting enough, I am talking to you James Carville, Chris Matthews, among others, I give you the ever excellent John Cole of Balloon Juice:

'In some cultures, there need to be ritual displays of over the top emotion for some events- profuse groveling including getting down on your hands and knees when making an apology, wailing and beating of the chest and throwing yourself on the coffin at a funeral, and so on. Apparently, this is what we expect out of our political leaders these days.

In order to demonstrate for Blow and the rest of our press that Obama is really quite upset, I’m suggesting that he hit the beach at the oil spill, dressed only in a loin cloth and cilice and discipline, where he can then self-flagellate repeatedly on the back until bloodied, at which time he can stage a self-crucifixion with his blood dripping onto the beach symbolizing the oil spill. That ought to show he cares.'

I haven't read everything yet, but this did catch my attention:

I’m all for constructive criticism, but flailing around over things that no one can control is just driving me nuts. Why hasn’t Obama done more to stop the leak? I dunno. Why didn’t Obama do more to save John Murtha and Dennis Hopper! Why won’t he wave his magic fucking wand and bring world peace! Why is unemployment at 10%? Why are we all going to die one day!

I'm just grateful we have someone with common sense in charge and not the raving loon of the past administration.

3. I can see John Cole's need for

hyperbole. I like who President Obama is and I like that he went home to Chicago and is having his Memorial Day Ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetary in spite of what all the rabid hounds of hell will go on wailing about ad infinitum.

He won in spite of the corporatemedia and is leading this country in spite of mediawhores incorporated.

So glad I stopped watching that bullshit in 2002.
