Dayton's pick: Sen. Prettner Solon
In a sign that he will fight hard for votes among northern Minnesota Democrats, DFL gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton on Monday picked a three-term state senator from Duluth as his running mate.

Dayton's choice of Yvonne Prettner Solon puts his stake in the ground in the Eighth District, a DFL-heavy stretch of voters who tend to turn out in all elections. Dayton is vying against Matt Entenza and party-endorsed Margaret Anderson Kelliher in an August DFL primary.

Dayton said Prettner Solon was the first and only person he asked to be his lieutenant governor.

But Dayton isn't the only gubernatorial candidate Prettner Solon has backed.
