President Obama may be right or he may be wrong about his decisions
about Afghanistan. We should all be welcome to join in the various debates one way or another, for or against. However, I have seen a number of posts on DU today that question his motives for putting young american men and women into a war zone. These posts have implied that the decision to place more troops rests in political maneuvering, pandering to the right, selfish motives (I guess about his legacy, or whatever), blood for oil, and even a "jock" motive. I've also seen posts referring to anyone who supports his decision as being a "warmonger" (were americans that supported FDR or Lincoln automatically warmongers too?), but I'm primarily wanting to focus on references to Obama.

Now, I have to assume that some of these are plants by freeper lurkers to make us DUers look like idiots or to purposely damage Obama for repuke brownie points. However, undoubtedly some are from DUers. If someone questions the motives of President Obama to send these troops into battle, then at risk of being flamed away (oh, the horror!!), I'll just forward you to a place where you can feel more at home in trashing the character and reputation of a fine man in a very difficult place; www.foxnews.com

4. I don't support war criminals. I oppose war criminals. The Afghan government is rife with
war criminals.

I oppose the illegitimate Afghan government. I oppose shedding American blood to prop up a bunch of mafia war criminals.

I oppose my President's policy in Afghanistan. It's a criminal policy and it's bad policy for this country.

Now I know why Obama won't prosecute Bush and Chaney for their crimes. He sees it as insurance that he won't be prosecuted for his crimes.

2. You are alarmed at the suggestion that politics played a role in this policy?
Of course it did. That is beyond debate by adults.

That doesn't invalidate the policy, either.

It is just reality.

Guess what? Politics also caused Carter to attempt the Iran hostage rescue.

Welcome to the world.

5. If an "adult" read my post fully, the "adult" would notice the phrase
"These posts have implied that THE DECISION to place more troops RESTS IN..."

ie, primarily driven by, etc.

Of course politics plays a role, politics play a role in everything. And yes, if politics played the PRIMARY role, that would pretty much invalidate a policy to send men and women to die for their country.

Please avoid the snarkiness next time, it does little to advance discourse. I'll avoid it if you avoid it, deal?

3. Obama is supporting a government that is a mafia, So you know he's a fine man. Because
he's putting American lives on the line to prop up the mafia.

Why anyone would question his motives for doing so is quite obvious. Who the hell supports propping up a corrupt bunch of war lord war- criminal Mafiosos and claims it's for honorable reasons?

You may be that naive, but I'm not, friend.
