Conway on Offense, nails Rand Paul on BP comment: "apparantly has a deeply held conviction..."
:applause:

Conway on Rand Paul's BP comment

Here:

"Rand Paul apparently has a deeply held conviction that corporations should be allowed to do what they see fit without oversight or accountability. He even goes so far as to say that that criticizing corporations when they hurt taxpayers and working families - as in the case of the massive BP oil disaster - is 'un-American.'

"As Attorney General, I've seen how corporations can take advantage of consumers - whether it's oil companies that gouge Kentucky customers after a series of storms or pharmaceutical companies that commit Medicaid fraud. I have a deeply held conviction that we need a senator who will hold companies accountable. We have enough senators in Washington who are looking out for what's best for corporations. My sole focus will be looking out for Kentucky's taxpayers and families."

6. MORE - Conway Slams Rand Paul's 'Empathy Gap,' 'Cold And Callous' World View
Conway Slams Rand Paul's 'Empathy Gap,' 'Cold And Callous' World View

Seizing on a series of politically eccentric statements from his opponent Rand Paul, Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Jack Conway charged the Tea Party darling with having an "empathy gap" and promoting a world view that is "cold and callous."

"I think Rand Paul would be bad for the country," the Kentucky Attorney General said in an interview with the Huffington Post. "Rand Paul would be bad for Kentucky. I consider myself to be a fiscally responsible Democrat and I want a government we can afford. But Kentucky can't afford Rand Paul."

Conway was handed a gift of sorts from the political gods this week as the first stories to emerge from Kentucky's dual primaries on Tuesday all centered around Paul's libertarian interpretations of the role of the federal government. On Wednesday, the Republican candidate said he was skeptical about the necessity or reach of portions of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. On Friday morning, Paul criticized the Obama administration for being too tough on BP in the wake of that company's oil spill in the Gulf. "Accidents happen," he offered with respect to the Gulf tragedy and the deaths that took place in the West Virginia mines.

The dual comments have had the effect of placing Paul under a glaring and uncomfortable political spotlight as even national Republicans acknowledge that he needs more grooming. And Conway isn't about to throw his opponent a rope to let him out of the hole he has dug for himself.

"He's trying to say that the media is out to get him or the liberals are out to get him," Conway said. "The problem is, several weeks ago he gave that interview to the Louisville Courier-Journal, the editorial interview. He knew what he said, but then right after the election, he said it again on NPR, and then on MSNBC he had those 20 very painful minutes with Rachel Maddow. And it just kind of took on a life of its own."

7. Why don't we money-bomb Conway? I'm up for it. With all the "FREE" media..

attention being directed at Mr. Paul, it would be great if Conway were able to make the rounds as well. Paul inherited his Daddy's presidential campaign money, Conway isn't that lucky. Thanks for posting this.

13. Of course. I'm naturally obligated to help Jack anyway I can.
Even if he turns out to be a budding Bayh that's an upgrade over Dumbing or the more pro-corporate Lieberman in waiting that was his opposition in the primary.

15. I may get crushed for this, but I think any Democrat on his worst day..
is better than a Repuke on his best day. Some people seem to think this is about individual Dems, and they don't understand that this is about maintaining majorities, and being in charge of what legislation comes to the floor for a vote. And just as important, are judicial confirmations.

17. Ever read a book called "The Audacity of Hope"?
At the beginning of the book, Barack Obama describes his opponent in his 2004 Illinois Senate race. For any who have forgotten, it was Alan Keyes. Obama mentioned the rather extreme views held by Mr. Keyes, such as insisting Jesus would not have voted for Obama (because Jesus apparently feels all abortions are murder, just as Mr. Keyes does), calling for the repeal of the 17th amendment, and insisting homosexuality was "selfish hedonism." Obama then referred to him as, "...in short, the perfect opponent."

I bet it takes half an hour for Jack Conway to stop giggling every morning! Every time Rand Paul speaks, the chances for Jack Conway's election in November improve.
