Obama Approval Continues Upward Trend

President Obama's approval rate continues to tick up and is now at 52%, according to the Gallup tracking poll.

1. Good news!
Though I get all happy about this poll one day, and then the next it will seem to drop into the high 40's again.

The Gallup daily tracking poll is pretty volatile. Still, the highs are higher again, and the lows are not as low anymore.

Obama is definitely trending up in this poll it seems.

2. Disapproves down to 41%
That's pretty good, IMO.

I'd love to see him hit 54% by Nov.

3. Watching these polls is a lot like how I feel during March Madness
I get all anxious when my team is down two, and feel good when we're up 3. But it only really matters what the score is at the end of the game.

4. Except on DU.
I got so discouraged last night reading posts from DUers who say they won't vote for him again because he's too far right. I still love him. What can I say? He's got one helluva job to do and I support him in all of it. He's a lot smarter than I and has more information than most of us. I think we should cut him some slack.

5. Don't be discouraged, FLyellowdog.
I have come to the conclusion there are some people who are never happy unless they have something to complain about, real or imagined. Yes, there are real things going on that are not perfect, and it would be nice if we could discuss them like adults, but we've lost a lot of that. So, ignore is our friend. There are enough positive threads around here to lift your spirits, I hope.

11. Consider the source..
I do and it means less than zero. A lot are ragers during the primary who never met a bitter word they wouldn't sling at President Obama. After a while it's so predictable..there's no meaning anymore.

13. I agree with babylonsister, Ignore is your friend. You know who they are.
They never have anything positive to say about the administration. No source is too weak to be dragged & posted here these days. If it's anti-Obama, it's worthy of the Greatest Page. They mostly coordinate their attacks at the site named after a tree (if you know what I mean).

21. Couldn't agree more Cha. You know their names, and you know their
M.O. There's no mystery anymore. After a while, it's just boring, cause you can almost write their responses for them. When they become that predictable, it's time to find the Iggy button.

24. "you can almost write their responses for them"
You are exactly right. There are a few here who have been raging against Obama since before he was sworn in, convinced he was the worst thing to happen to this country since gingivitis.

Even when shown things that DIRECTLY contradict their dire warnings and predictions of doom, they still continue to spout anti-Obama bs about EVERY single issue. At this point, it's obvious that they are so invested in their desire to be proven right (even when repeatedly being proven wrong) that things like honesty and fairness have fallen by the wayside.

Sh*t, if I thought they'd go the hell away and STAY gone (for some reason they just keep coming back) I would be all too happy to proclaim them the rightest, most correct and profound people in the history of the Internet -- no, the WORLD.

It's not like they hide who they are.

our quarterly fundraiser. You can't tell me that DU isn't fully aware of this.

9. That's very true...
And it's very interesting that in somebody's recent poll, "Jobs" dropped down to the Number Two concern. Does that mean people are getting less worried? Still to early to tell, I think.

12. His overall numbers are improving...
Not just in Gallup, but across the board.

Even in the worst of the polls - Rasmussen, Obama's highs are higher and his lows not as low.

Overall, the President's numbers are definitely on the rise. The trend is on our side at the moment.

The real concern right now is the enthusiasm. Voters on the right are pretty fired up, and we have to do a better job of matching that excitement on the left. We really need to unify as we approach November. I know not everyone is happy with the Democratic party, but in this system we have no alternative. We either take tiny baby steps to the left, or we allow the forces of the radical right to take over and reverse any positive gains that have been made.

I know there are people that think it would be worth letting the nation go to hell in a hand basket under the misguided belief that it is the only way real progressive change will happen, but that just isn't the way it works in the US. Change comes very slowly here in America, and people are just going to have to accept that and focus their energy on pushing the Democratic party more to the left. We must be active in the primaries, but rally around the nominee in the general election.
