D'oh! Linda McMahon Picks Now To Call For More Offshore Drilling
In campaigns -- like in pro-wrestling -- timing is everything. And Linda McMahon (R), last seen running way behind in the Connecticut Senate race, is proving she's a master of when to say just the right thing.

Fresh off news of the cataclysmic oil spill in the gulf of Mexico, McMahon recently distributed a mailer where she promised to put 'Connecticut back to work' by calling on the government to "increase offshore drilling and production."

Ted Mann of The Day has the picture, which is worth at least a thousand barrels of spilled crude.

McMahon says it's time to loosen the "burdensome regulations" that can "inhibit growth."

2. And just how many of those
visually appealing oil platforms do you think the upper crust of CT will allow in their view from their mansions?

6. But there is nothing on Long Island Sound to drill. And it is already polluted
by nitrogen and sewage systems dumped into the Sound by NYC and other cities along the CT shore. Also, the wealthy in CT has a lot of Dem voters too (thankfully). McMahon and Ned Lamont are both from Greenwich.

4. I am so fucking sick of seeing that woman's face on TV
But the money matters ... she has been climbing in the polls and she's the top R now - among women. I am eagerly awaiting rebroadcast of a select few WWE clips! Hah!

7. Greedy knows no bounds, she doesn't care about the spill
A few weeks ago, she was called out for giving out money to register to vote and had to stop.

9. Was she ever a WWE wrestler herself?
Seems to have the mental capacity of someone who survived one too many head injuries in the ring.

13. Blumenthal
Blumenthal was leading in the race and he has not even begun campaigning. WTF is he waiting for? Is he that arrogant that he does not think he has to start campaigning until September or October?

17. Answer: Blumenthal is not yet officially the candidate of the Dem Party.
He doesn't have to do what she is doing. He is our state AG, he has a job and a high profile job at that. He gets around plenty, doing his work for the people of the state and the people here know it. He is always on the side of consumer safety and fairness. Even my Libertarian neighbor admires his stand against UI. I don't think 2 days go by without his being in the news for something that is beneficial to state residents. And it's free publicity and the best kind!

So don't jump to conclusions...if he starts campaigning now it will look likehe's not doing what the people elected him to do. Linda obviously has time on her hands. He doesn't.

21. I was not on the board when that was posted. This morning's NY Times and
a front page story in the New Haven Register was the first I had heard of this.

I always wonder why people who are otherwise the best and the brightest that we have can screw up in such an obviously checkable manner. Sometimes I think they lull themselves into thinking some things they say really are "true."

We'll see how this plays out...
