Fox News host complaining this morning about the low taxes paid by the middle class!!!
I was stuck in a car waiting room and Fox News was on. (I plan on complaining about that)!

It was amazing, the "Low Taxes" and "Tax Cut" network was complaining about how low the middle class taxes are and how few people are paying taxes in the middle class!!!

These people are so hypocritical that it is almost a parody at this point. They LOVE tax cuts but I guess not on the middle class.

Why don't they just admit they only care about rich people and lets move on!

1. I thought the point of Fox was to confuse middle class into thinking that their taxes were raised?

2. And yet the "highly educated" tea partiers have their TV's stuck on that drivel
Any poll that credits those assholes with anything above reptile intelligence is highly suspect IMO.

3. Never forget, the GOP is the party of people who make 60 K and up.
If we kept this in mind, their moves would make sense just
about all of the time. When they say the "American People"
are not happy with this health care bill," they are talking
about their consituency who for the most part can afford
Health Care.

When they go into caniptiona over what they percieve as
Redistribution. They are concerned about taking from the
well-to-do and giving to the less well off. Again it makes
sense---the well-to-do are their constituents for the most
part. Yes, there are Rich people on the left but not in
the numbers as are on the right.

Remember these: Who is a Republican? A Liberal who has
been mugged.

Who is a Republican. A Liberal who has their first mortgage.
Based on a theory that most people tend to be Liberal in
their 20s. Once they start serious debts, they become
Republicans because of taxes etc.

Finally, it is important that we understand who is the
Constituency of the Republican Party.

The sad fact is who really looks out for the Working Class
and Poor???

5. well, it may be accurate to say it's the party FOR people who make over $60K
There are a lot of poor Republicans all over America who will fight tooth and nail for the right to be screwed over by their richer allies every way from Tuesday. Then again, I also think a lot of the Republicans I just described think they are richer than they are - I'm sure you've seen the studies showing the mathematically impossible number of people who think they are in the top 10% or that their IQ is in the upper quintile or what have you. I know a lot of what I'd call "150,000-dollar-millionaires" and yes they still make a lot of money but are not as rich as they think they are or pretend to be.

13. Anyone making 60K or even 100K who votes Republican
is still voting against their interests. Unfortunately, the other side are masters at manipulating this demographic.

Most of them don't realize that they are the very 'middle class' people the Fox host was complaining about!

It really only makes economic sense to vote Republican if you are a millionaire, and only then if you ONLY consider your own short-term self interest.

4. The rights ability to push contradictions is stunning
Indeed they love tax cuts for the very rich, who it seems are paying way to much and have very little left over for essentials like this:

But working people paying lower income taxes? The horrors!

7. it fits in with their mind set/mythology though
in their overly simplistic world view, rich people all deserve their wealth because of hard work and tugging on bootstraps, while poor people are all lazy. One of the arguments I heard in their anti-health care rant was basically that all sickness was due to "lifestyle choices" (the same language they use for sexual orientation, by the way) therefore sick people deserve to pay more.

Or something.

The "logic" is awfully hard to follow, but they really do tend to see everything in terms of morality and of someone deserving their fate, completely ignoring random chance, environment, and just about every other factor.

I think they do it to prop up their own ego - they see themselves as successful and are too selfish to even consider thanking anything/anyone other than themselves and maybe their god.

12. I'm guessing they were having their automobile serviced or repaired.
While the service or repair was taking place, they were waiting in a room.

10. Faux's NEWEST meme is that taxes WILL be raised, (since people are now discovering that
Edited on Sat Apr-17-10 04:16 PM by jenmito
their taxes were lower this past year since Obama CUT taxes for 95% of working families), in the COMING years. :eyes: They were calling Obama "arrogant" and accusing him of belittling teabaggers for saying they should be saying "Thank you" for getting their taxes cut-not raised. Faux said Obama wasn't telling the truth, saying he IS going to raise their taxes and that the teabaggers are not stupid like Obama obviously thinks.

14. The thing they always neglect to mention...
Edited on Sun Apr-18-10 09:47 AM by lumberjack_jeff
is that the 45% of households which pay no tax COLLECTIVELY make about 15% of the income.

The fact that 45% of households pay no tax is a symptom of the problem. The problem is wealth and income inequality.

They dislike tax cuts, particularly refundable tax cuts, for middle-class and lower-income folks, fretting that if their tax burden is too low, they'll support increased social spending because it'll be a good deal for them.

Do you recall the host and name of the program, by any chance?

she thinks it's crazy that rich people pay more in taxes. She said it's not fair. It's her own fault she is "poor" and didn't make better choices in life.
That's the way they think
