Nevada: Titus Widens Cash Edge Over Heck

One of the lingering questions about surgeon Joe Heck's (R) ability to topple Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) has been his fundraising, and his first-quarter financial report is unlikely to silence those concerns.

Heck raised a respectable but not particularly impressive $148,000 in the first three months of 2010 and ended March with $257,000 cash on hand.

Titus raised about $100,000 more -- $254,000 -- but more importantly, she has now banked $902,000 for her re-election bid. That's about a $20,000 increase in her cash-on-hand edge over Heck since year-end.

CQ-Roll Call recently changed its race rating in the 3rd district race to the more competitive "Tossup" from "Leans Democratic" because of the tough political climate Titus faces and polling that shows her now trailing Heck, though within or just outside the margin of error.
