it's obviously a strategy to help get his nominee confirmed.

The stupid gops are in full repeal everything mode..Pres Obama cares about getting the job done right..only.

2. Just like he did for HCR, it's a stragegic move that will pay off
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 02:11 PM by ericgtr
He invites them in, they say NO NO NO, and Obama shows that he tried. This strategy has been working out well for him and the Republicans are in a corner because they look like assholes if they do show or if they don't show.

9. And we will wind up with a SC justice as useful and beneficial as the corporate bailout
of the insurance companies.

It is easy to "win" the middle when you abandon any pretense of considering the left and go almost as far right as Georgie did.

In reality, it gives Obama cover to say that they influenced him to sell out everything of value and they still would not support it. But he will do it again and again until we replace him with a real Democrat.

and there were those who thought that JFK was too much of a moderate too.

4. He feels compelled to show he's trying to reach out to them.
He wants to maintain that 'crosses party lines' image. But Obama usually gives them what they want or something close, unfortunately. If Obama nominates a liberal, I will eat my shoe.

Didn't he talk to repubs and dems the last time to hear out nominees?! They all give him names and suggest people. I figured this was normal.

19. This is what our lawmakers were elected to do...
work TOGETHER to legislate for the people. Just so happens that the Repugnants have forgotten who they work for. Don't blame the President because he's trying to do the job the right way.

20. This is a step in the process.
The President wants to touch every base. There is no indication he's going to allow the GOP to dictate his choice. However, if he skipped this base, and didn't even meet with the GOP, they have something to use against him: a break from protocol, and it would indicate Obama doesn't really mean it when he claims to want bipartisanship.

It's a process. Take a breath, folks. This is no reason to be concerned. I think Mr. Obama really does know what he's doing.
