Looking for ammo to rebut current meme of 'patriotic to criticize the POTUS'. Remember how when W..
was pres and he was criticized, we were called anti-American.

I got this today:

Teddy Roosevelt said “Patriotism means to stand by the country; it does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country.”

Does anyone have any specific GOP quotes from those (thank God) past days when the same shit was thrown at us?

2. Can't think of specifics, but I know the archives of DU
should be brimming with them. As someone said the other day, after all the links on the intertubes are broken and the pipes to the MSM are welded shut DU, with it's snapshot of the most poignant political phrases of the day, remains the archive of of recent history.

One thing I tell them is that I am fine with the right/teabaggers protesting. I support their freedom and ability to stand up and protest for whatever they believe in, regardless of if I agree with them or not. What I don't like, and will fight back against with my own free speech, is when they resort to falsehoods, whether through laziness of not checking what they hear against a reputable source, or willful ignorance.

In other words, they are free to make whatever point they wish, and even to be racist, xenophobic assholes while doing so. But I am free to point out the lies and hypocrisies.

I don't want to shame them into not protesting if they feel like they have a cause. I want them to respect my freedom to protest too, which (sadly) I'm sure they will forget when the time comes.

they seem to have such fragile egos for being such tough-guy-types.

I said something about how MSNBC is not really liberal despite a couple of their pundits" on a friends page, and some guy (friend of a friend) today made an allusion to me and MSNBC being Che supporters, then when I explained how GE is actually a pretty conservative company and that channel is also largely conservative despite Maddow and Olbermann I got in a joking dig about how I support his right to be wrong. Well, he got his pants in a wad and cried about how I was essentially being a typical elitist humorless windbag meanie using facts and all that against him.

Jeez, Louise. They have such amazing persecution complexes - no wonder they're so paranoid about the health care new world order.... :D
