1. I expect to see people

Apply rigidly consistent croteria as to reports where jobs are lost and the rate stays the same. That would mean they would have to claim things are actually better than claimed and that the rate is artificially manipulated UPward, because that would be exactly the thinking in the reverse situation.

It's wrong either way of course, and I am fully aware they are different surveys with different methods, but I DO expect (in the sense of desiring it to happen rather than thinking it will) consistency.

2. Unemployment will lag job creation

as those that gave up (and no longer are counted as unemployed) fill some of these new jobs.

The idea of unemployment lagging ANYTHING (including far earlier signs such as durable goods orders, inventory declines, temp workforce, hours worked, etc) is seen as "corporatist shilling" of the highest order, and the only possible measure of any recovery whatsoever is full employment instantly.

7. My husband is starting to get e-mails from headhunters and

we have been retired for three years. He must be in some databases that are over 7 years old, because that's the last time he looked for a new job. He was a Mechanical Engineer for most of his career.

The signs are there that companies are starting to add jobs. It's very good news. While the increases may be slow, it has "turned the corner". I think some areas of the country are going to recover sooner, but that's the way it always is.
