The Only Republican Plan Is to Destroy Democrats, Not Solve Problems
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 07:18 AM by no_hypocrisy
(T)he Republicans are following a playbook that has evolved over more than four decades, to regain power by sabotaging Democratic presidents.

In this analysis, the Republicans believe they can reclaim the lucrative levers of national authority by making the country as ungovernable as possible while a Democrat is in the White House, essentially holding governance hostage until they are restored to power. Then, the Democrats are expected to behave as a docile opposition “for the good of the country” (and usually do).

-snip-

(T)he Republicans did not behave as a loyal opposition but rather as a single-minded political enemy that viewed the White House as its birthright and Democratic control of the Executive Branch as illegitimate.

1. Even in power they don't solve anything. We come up with all the conservative solutions.

And nary a liberal one. That would just be "too extreme".

2. When rethugs are in power, ruination and destruction of our country (and many others) occurs.
Democrats come in after the rethug Armageddon and attempt to put things back together. So far, the dnc (do nothing congress) controlled by Democrats has done a lousy job. There is still time to fix it, but time is running out!

9. And no manner of comparing us with the baggers as "left-wing-fringe"
I am a stable person with an education and a profession, stable income, and rational ideas that work elsewhere in the world. I am not pulling them out of my ass or getting them from some pundit in lieu of real information.

I do not hold up misspelled signs that show clear ignorance in the face of common knowledge and facts. When people ask why I disagree with something or someone I state clearly why. If I cannot I make an attempt to look it up and do not simply insult the questioner unless they are attacking me personally.

No. I am not an "left-wing teabagger". I know we can and must do better and not continue to do the job Republicans would be doing had they not been hijacked by religious charlatans and long-term-destructive corporate interests.

Because if we don't they WILL get back in power eventually. If we don't force them back to the "sane right" then nobody will. Becoming what they are supposed to be doesn't force anything.

3. The strategy continues because white people keep going along with it
An interesting synopsis of recent political history, but says nothing about why so many white voters keep getting off on their own economic decline, which has been their reward for helping these thiefs re-attain power. Republicans have scratched and clawed their way back to power on the strength of votes and unaccountability. After four decades of the same playbook, there is relatively little understanding to be gained from an analysis of their tactics. As long as we have hate-filled ignoramuses chanting "keep your government hands of my Medicare," it won't matter how well we understand the purported enemy.

4. Certain groups of white people will gladly relinquish their money to republicans
and their croney corporations in exchange for the illusion of sustaining power over other groups.

5. The Rethugs tipped their hand by asking Bush for $750B with no strings attached

That showed the world who America's REAL welfare queens are, and that Republicans aren't interested in improving anyone's lives but their own. The number of Americans they can prey on--who are happy to vote against their own interests as long as it hurts those they hate--is shrinking with every move they make.
