We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, Now you get mad!?

by Nica24

I visit Rosie O'Donnell's blog almost every day, I enjoy her. I am always amazed at the nasty, sometimes violent reaction she brings out in some people. But I want to pass this on, Rosie printed it on the home page of her blog, it was sent to her. I'm sending it as a reply to every anti-Obama email I get. It's civil and just a little frightening to see in print.

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
energy policy.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

<...>

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans...oh hell no.

1. IMO, better late than never.
There's plenty to protect, even now. Next I fear they may be coming for our Social Security.

Yeah, I thank God for small favors.

2. Is it your understanding that the teabaggers are now angry about the OP issues?
Wrong.

7. Believe it or not, there are Good Democratic Leaning Americans who do not like
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 10:11 AM by ShortnFiery
the direction our Democratic President is taking this country. I know that it's very difficult for you to wrap your brain around it, but many of us are VERY DISAPPOINTED in President Obama's actions since he has been in the Presidency.

Patriot Act
Escalation of combat troops in Afghanistan
No closure of GITMO
Torture Chambers in Bahrain
Corporate give away in HRC Bill
Consideration of tampering with Social Security
Privatization of our Public Schools

Yes, Prosense, we, DEMOCRATIC LEANING Americans have every right to be disappointed with President Obama.

IMO, it's intellectually lazy to FOCUS on "the teabaggers" when there's so much to be done ... to be corrected with our Executive Branch's actions.

a big clue: "You finally got mad"

Now, was your response to show empathy?

10. That's my point! You hyper-focus on tea-baggers and IGNORE the mistakes of Our President.
By focusing on the clearly insane, you don't have to take time to look inward.

What's wrong with that? Other than EVERY-DAMN-THING!

I am almost ready to give up, almost. We'll see what happens. I won't wait long. I am with you ShortnFiery. Good post.

14. And yet
you're supporting Senator Feingold, deficit hawk who voted against Bernie Sanders' senior benefits bill, and a supporter of the health care bill.

Convenient outrage that spells hypocrisy.

15. So, anyone who you can find "a negative" on is "a hypocrit."
That would make President Obama's behavior mega-hypocritical. I don't think you want to go down that path ... dare I say closing GITMO? Mandatory Insurance Payments? Humm?

18. You clearly nit-picked Finegold's stances to place the person at a loss.
That's not a good way to set up a sound argument since your person, the President, can be knocked down as easily. That's my point. Nothing more, nothing less.

20. Unfair. Don't change the subject. And no, I don't find pleasure in this.
You KNOW that the President campaigned on NO HRC Mandate. However, it's in the final bill.

Sure, that's nit-picking but no worse than you were doing to Senator Finegold.

However, two wars and continued operations of GITMO are not issues, IMO, that are as nit-picky (is that a word?).

28. And you disagree with the President on education,
a single issue, so that means you're "disappointed in the direction of this administration"?

That's the problem people seem to be taking the issue they most identify with and writing the President off base on a single issue while they seemingly have no problem with Senators who support the President on almost every other issue.

Congress is set to reauthorize NCLB, and while Feingold has his reservations, he's willing to address the flaws during that process.

Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 11:22 AM by ShortnFiery
President Obama's and the Democratic Congress's THIRD WAY of Corporatism, we are shown the door.

That does NOT bode well on our future.

Disrespecting the tea-baggers is like "shooting fish in a barrel" ... hell, it's not even sport.

Why don't we encourage President OBAMA to pass some truly LIBERAL vice THIRD WAY legislation in order to get the progressive wing of the Democratic Party behind him?

How about we start with a "ROBUST PUBLIC OPTION" within the recently passed HRC?

And all the while disrespecting the BASE of the party as "out of touch." What better way to usher in another generation of republicans?

Wow! :(

I was having, what I thought, was the beginning of a good debate with my sister. She made the statement that she KNEW what had been going on these past 8 years so I didn't know what I was talking about. I sent this to her. SHE FREAKED!!!! Sent back an email in Bold 24 pt font ranting about how it just showed what I thought of her. Saying she did pay attention in 1 sentence and the next saying she didn't know but does now.

They cannot handle facts. I am pretty sure we will never speak again

My Mom has emailed me stuff recently so I said could I email her something from the liberal side and she said sure. We are having a pretty good debate right now back and forth but I used to be more careful in the past. My Dad cannot really handle it as well.
My brother is a radical hippie born too late so I have nothing to worry about from him. My aunts and uncles, all conservative.
It is hard to talk to conservative family members though. They can dish it out but cannot handle it as well when confronted with the truth.

than any terrorism. I firmly believe this. More Republican control/influence would be the end of the country as we know it. As if it wasn't damaged beyond recognition by the previous administration.

There is a reason the supreme court told Florida to stop the count. That was to carry out this act of treason on the U.S.

Is there any doubt?
