Sarah Palin totally steals Speaker Nancy Pelosi's words in her Facebook post!
It was after the Democrats' loss of Ted Kennedy's Senate seat in Massachusetts, when health care seemed dead and Democrats were in a deep funk, that Nancy Pelosi made me a believer. "You can always find a way," she told the skeptical columnists and pundits gathered in her office. If the election results close one door to reforming the health-care system, you go to the gate; if the gate's locked, you climb over the fence; if it's too high, you pole-vault in; and if that doesn't work, you parachute in.

Focus on the goal and fight for it. If the gate is closed, go over the fence. If the fence is too high, pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, parachute in. If the other side tries to push back, your attitude should be “go for it.” Get in their faces and argue with them. (Sound familiar?!) Every possession is a battle; you’ll only win the war if you’ve picked your battles wisely. No matter how tough it gets, never retreat, instead RELOAD!

7. My thought
She blatantly stole Pelosi's words and tried to make it obvious using this "(Sound familiar?!)" She knows it's Pelosi's words and wants readers to know she knows it.

She put it in the middle of her fighting and violent rhetoric to create a false equivalency between what she has said and what Pelosi said. In effect, I have said this but Pelosi said similar things as well.

BUT, it does not work because there is no equivalency between "battle ... targets... shot... crossfire... enemy territory... weapons... big guns... blood..." -- look at all of this violent imagery these words create -- and Pelosi's words "goal... fight... go for it... argue... Pelosi's words evoke an image of drive, standing your ground and perseverance.

She's trying to play rhetorical tricks but failing big time because the logic just doesn't hold up. But this allows her to continue sending out her dog whistles -- and you can bet those who are prone to violence and anger are hearing these words loud and clear -- while trying to create some cover for herself. "Who, me?"

For reference, here's the entirety of her message:

March Madness battles rage! My family and I join millions of Americans enjoying college basketball’s finest through March Madness. Underdogs always get my vote as we watch intense competition bring out the best in these accomplished teams.

The Final Four is an intense, contested series (kind of like a heated, competitive primary election), so best of luck to all teams, and watch for this principle lived out: the team that wins is the team that wants it more.

To the teams that desire making it this far next year: Gear up! In the battle, set your sights on next season’s targets! From the shot across the bow – the first second’s tip-off – your leaders will be in the enemy’s crosshairs, so you must execute strong defensive tactics. You won’t win only playing defense, so get on offense! The crossfire is intense, so penetrate through enemy territory by bombing through the press, and use your strong weapons – your Big Guns – to drive to the hole. Shoot with accuracy; aim high and remember it takes blood, sweat and tears to win.

9. I think you give her way too much credit. She's not that clever. It's plagiarism, plain and simple.

10. Then why did she put "sound familiar?" in there
And, no, I don't think Palin came up with this? She has plenty of advisers to help her with stuff like this. She seems homespun and ditzy, but half of that is packaging and marketing.

11. Did Pelosi say, "Get in their faces and argue with them." I think you're right about her handlers.

8. Nancy has class, she is strong and powerful. Palin only wishes she was like Nancy Pelosi.
Stealing her words is pretty pathetic, especially as it seems it wasn't an "innocent" mistake but blatant.

12. It sounds familiar to me
Palin knows exactly what her and her minions are doing. Todd Palin was/is a member of the Alaska Independence Party. Note the context where she inserted the sounds familiar quote.

From the Rachel Maddow show last week:

A gentleman named Sam Sherwood of the United States Militia Association bragged of providing the volunteers that got Helen Chenoweth

elected to Congress. Mr. Sherwood was invited to testify at Chenoweth‘s hearings—despite the fact Mr. Sherwood had been quoted saying, “Go up and look legislators in the face because some day you may be forced to blow it off.”

14. Obvious plagiarism....
The only question is whether or not there's an original source that *both* of them lifted it from.
