"Comfortable in their own skin"
I've heard the media describe any number of Republican assholes in this way, particularly Bush and Palin, and usually in the same way that the media report that "folks would like to have a beer with" so-and-so.

Well, I don't think I've ever seen anyone more clearly "comfortable in his own skin" than our current President, but for the life of me I can't recall him ever being described in those terms. Did the media suddenly forget their favorite meaningless catchphrase?

Or have I simply not noticed them referring to him as such?

1. Catchprases don't work with Obama
Notice how nobody is afraid of our President? He has town meetings and people shout out love things and critical things, and no one seems to be self-conscious or afraid of being put down. He puts everyone at ease, even the most nervous of us. Critics have things gently explained to them, and his smile is infectious and sincere.

If anybody would rather have a beer with Palin or Bush, that's one get-together I'd have no interest in seeing.

2. Actually, I think they are comfortable in anyones skin,
or any animal's fur for that matter, right after they remove it from the dying corpse of anyone that isn't like them.

3. That's because far too many aren't comfortable with HIS skin....
.... ya know?

Which makes the fact that HE is so comfortable all the more remarkable.

4. Bush always looked uncomfortable. Always!
If there was a contest for not looking comfortable in your own skin, the chimp wins hands down.

He's a complete phony inside and out.

14. 'Comfortable in his own skin'?
He was practically comatose in his own skin. The phrase 'comfortably numb' comes to mind. Fuckin' stumblebum! How many photos have been posted here of WhistleAss tripping over his own feet, tumbling ass-over-teakettle on a Segway, being propped up by embarrassed-looking cadets, and drunkenly flailing his way through a crowd?

15. Bush wins Google, but only narrowly.
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,100,000 for Obama "comfortable in his own skin". (0.30 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,210,000 for Bush "comfortable in his own skin". (0.41 seconds)

Results 1 - 10 of about 944,000 for Obama "comfortable in their own skin". (0.32 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 975,000 for Bush "comfortable in their own skin". (0.29 seconds)

So, is Obama described that way? So far, nearly as often as Bush was, and we're comparing 1 year of Obama to 8 of Bush, so I would definitely expect Obama to wind up with 8 times as many references.

16. Great info!
Perhaps it was simply the annoyance factor, but during Bush's reign it seemed like the MSM couldn't go five minutes without describing him that way, and I truly don't recall hearing them say it about Obama even once.

As meaningless as the phrase is, I'm still glad to see that I was incorrect!
