Switching from "yes" to "no" on HCR. Am I missing something?
Other than Lynch (who seems like a buffoon), everyone who has switched in this direction (Arcuri, Space) comes from a swing district and has done so to cover their right flank. Is there something I'm missing, or are these people just plain stupid? Do they really think that Republicans and teabaggers will give them a pass a not hammer them over their November vote? Plus, the bill got WAY more conservative since the November vote.

This all makes no sense whatsoever. These guys need every vote they can get in November, and alienating their base is almost certain to be the final nail in their coffin -- unless they can peel off the votes of right wingers, which is a joke in and of itself.

Seriously, what am I missing?

As far as I'm concerned, he's fucked come November.

What an embarrasment.

I just wrote to let him know he lost four votes in my house over this.

I am pissed beyond words.

members of Congress who voted "yes" will probably be in trouble and trying to do serious ass-covering. I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks the mandates are going to be popular with the public - D or R.

9. Thats how I see it as well
Theres no way that the government telling people they must buy something will be popular.

10. Common sense isn't it? At least a public option would have given
people a way to avoid turning their dollars over to a bunch of known crooks. Adds insult to injury IMO. Glad someone else on here is realistically considering the ramifications of this down the road!

6. I suspect it's their constituents who are swaying them. The ones who vote.
You said it yourself: they are from swing (read that "conservative") districts.

8. No, Sir, You Are Not Missing Anything: These Wretches Will Lose
Democrats in their districts will not bother to turn out with any enthusiasm, and the Republicans will come out fiercely in any case. The margin of their defeat will be Democrats who stay home, seeing no pressing need to vote for someone who will not stand by the Party in a pinch. The only hope these people have is to energize Democrats to defend them, but they are too cowardly and calculating to see the value of a 'damn the torpedoes!' stand, and genuine enthusiasm and respect.

11. More than that, Magistrate, more than that
I will be actively working to primary congressman Lynch.

If he prevails, well, I can't say what I will do.

Not in a Democratic forum.
