And I hope that our leaders make the Grayson bill a major pledge in the fall campaign.

AND that they take it to the 'pugs for their strategy of obstructing for the sake of obstruction.

Senate in the next few months.

6. But I do not like this important provision omitted from the bill
Just read this Yahoo news item. It says it all.

8. BTW,,,what does that "scrolly thing" at the bottom of your posts mean?
I assume it's not actually meant to be a line of syringes floating by.

13. We don't need a Democratic President to be weakened, do we?
So many DUers attacking this admittedly disappointing legislation don't realise that it failing will weaken Obama and set it up for republicans to scoff and make electoral gains.

14. Chill. This is a thread supporting the damn bill.
And there wouldn't have been half the attacks or the bad feelings if those here who wanted everyone to support the bill had taken the appropriate tone of apology and humility towards those they were trying to persuade, rather than just take that "do as your tole" attitude so many of them expressed.

The lesson to be learned is that if you want people to do something they don't want to do, at least be nice about it and admit that you're asking a lot of them. And speak to them as equals.

18. I'm sorry, you're going to have to repeat that
...My irony meter just pegged when you said "appropriate tone of humility towards those they were trying to persuade" and I missed the second part. :D

19. I've written my rep about the Grayson bill
and signing on as a cosponsor. I know from discussions with him that in his heart he believes in the public option (and single-payer) but he's afraid to cosponsor because he chairs the health subcommittee.

21. I hope the republican lose.
I just wish the people would win. This bill is a sorry thing.

Now we have to start all over trying to get the administration to actually make the changes that they promised. But then there is the sentence parsing, cherry-picked quotes, and back pedaling for those too.

Only way this administration can even begin to redeem itself is to beat the republicans with this vote (we already lost to them on the bill) and then actually pursue health care reform. To that end, I also hope the bill passes. But if there is an adm. celebration party, we can kiss hcr bu-bye.

If they treat this as a great accomplishment and then move on to more corporate legislative gifting, we were once again screwed. (But at least we know the DLC will call us in the morning .... asking for more money.)

22. The campaign pledge for a PO, later denied, doesn't leave me too optimistic
about another round of "Campaign Pledges", this time for the Grayson Medicare You Can Buy Into bill. Once bitten, twice shy.

We all want the same thing in the end. Our disagreements are on how to get there.

24. It really does come down to this:
"And I hope that our leaders make the Grayson bill a major pledge in the fall campaign."

Back to that "HOPE" thing again.
I agree.
There is nothing else at this point.
