Isn't Coburn's statement that any Democrat losing their election
will not receive a nomination to a federal position blackmail?

3. Yes but. . . .
he's not exactly in position to do such, but he's trying to use same mou as reps do ALL THE TIME. Thats why none have had the nerve to cross over, even for a moment. Discipline? FEAR.

4. He said he would put a hold on any dem who was against the bill but
voted for it claiming that changing their mind for a job was tantamount to bribery...

Looks like a lot of recess appointments are headed our way after the elections in november.

I said this was probably part of what Obama was offering those who were frightened of losing their House or Senate seats. It's one of the tools presidents have in their arsenal.

6. Sounds to me like he was saying, "If, in exchange for your vote,
the Obama admin promised you a federal appointment if you are voted out in the next election, think again. Because we won't approve your appointment."

With one statement, he is accusing the Obama admin of buying votes, he's accusing congressman of selling votes and he's threatening to screw the deal up by holding up their appointment if they're voted out!

8. Isn't this sort of thing the "LBJ treatment" many here on the DU were advocating last year?

Not that I necessarily agree with everything he's done or said but he's certainly displaying more "toughness" since the Brown election in Massachusetts.
