I emailed the White House in support of trying KSM in our traditional court system in NY
I sent this using the form at:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact
===========================
Please try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed‎ in New York.

Show that our traditional court system is effective.

Trying him with the military commissions would set a bad precedent and send a message that our traditional courts are inadequate.

To avoid adding to Manhattan traffic, you can have the trial in the Bronx.

The Bronx is in the same federal court district as Manhattan. That is the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
===========================

If you agree, feel free to use some of my words in emailing the White House.

1. You should e-mail your Senators and state officials that are pressuring the WH to not have the trial
in NY also.

I think that was the huge problem.

The WH could deal with Republicans sniping but when the NY State and Congressional delegations (mostly Democrats) said no, along with Congress refusing to fund it, that is what has stuck the Obama Administration in a Box.

3. That was THE problem....
.... the WH was ready, Congress wasn't.

You're right ... we need to call our Senators and Reps as well.

.... or at least YALL who aren't represented by a bunch of fascists should. :)

2. I did too ,,,
the other day and told my friends to do the same for the same reasons. I also want the media to start confronting these hypocritical republicon bastards with clips of them talking the opposite during the Bush years and articles let them come on these shows and throw up a lot of clips talking about how damn bad they are and how these colors don't run. WHat in the hell are they afraid of?

4. I think not trying him in New York is a sign of weakness.
If they insist on the military tribunals, I almost hope he isn't convicted just to shut up the "big, brave" Republicans who now want to hide under the bed. We convicted many, many terrorists in civilian court and they've gone to prison. Of the 3 convictions in the military tribunals, 2 are on the loose.

5. Yes.
I've seen no evidence that Al Qaeda wants to blow up courthouses.

Deciding we can't try people accused of being in Al Qaeda in NY because what-if-they-blow-up-the-courthouse would be weakness.

6. Why not try him in Minneapolis or Chicago?
There is much more of a chance of jury pool members having personal involvement in NYC.

7. Federal district courts have jurisdiction where the crime took place.
So it has to be NY, PA, or the DC-area, for a 9/11 trial in federal district court.

8. Or they could pick a state where the hijackers were when they plotted...
...on the ground that plotting a terrorist attack is a crime.
