Republicans appear to be setting government up to fail.
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 07:58 PM by Writer
Senate GOP'ers are gridlocking progress in order to make Congress seem ineffectual.

GOP'ers say disgusting, and sometimes inflammatory things in order to dampen political rhetoric and turn away political observers.

They want the current Congress to look as stilted and as negative as they possibly can so that independents will want to vote them out.

Have they, or will they, succeed in convincing many in the electorate that this is the case?

8. I have heard very few Democrats coming out and slamming the republicans
I am sorry but the fu*Kn Democrats are pathetic

They are essentially taking the so-called "high road"

They should be slamming the talking points everyday

There is something wrong when the party who one the election lets the other side control the talking points

and it just isn't the medias fault, though they share some of the blame

Every chance the Democrats get they should be slamming the republicans

I am becoming convienced that the Democrats do not know how to fight

15. Reid and Obama don't know how to fight. In Reid's case, it's likely age- with Obama, it's his nature
And I agree that voters see something wrong- because there IS something wrong with that, at a very basic level.

20. They both know how to fight. They're choosing not to.
Probably because they get paid by the same people who pay the Republicans.

21. I don't know- my take on Obama is that he's a diplomat and a consensus builder
Edited on Wed Mar-03-10 01:18 AM by depakid
going back a long, long way.

Trouble is- Republicans know that, too- and they'll deny him even the appearance of it in order to frustrate any success he might have on a very basic level.

Others in his own party take advantage of that, too- sensing that he's not about to change his ways.

It's his “hamartia,” the tragic flaw in personality that's often seen in classical tragedy- which when you think about it, is how all this has been playing out.

24. My pleasure.
I think the republicans are just desperate.
I mean who in the hell are they going to find that is going to beat the charismatic Professor with a silver tongue? The truth is that they know he is going to get a second term so they are trying to cripple him as best as they can.
Make no mistake this is a war to them.
Maybe even for their very survival.
America is changing and their kind isn't and the "muslin half-breed" scary black man bullshit wont work again.
I just hope we do a better job in the midterms than the pattern of history dictates.
Anyhoo..I need more coffee

:hi:

Oh, check this out.
"Dear Lord, I know I haven't talked to you that much, but this past year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farah Fawcett, my favorite musician, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mayes. I just wanted to let you know that my favorite president is Barack Obama....Amen"
This is what's being spread around on facebook by a few of my right-wing family members.
My response

will implement policy that works really well and that people will appreciate. That "were all in the same boat" feeling that would have come with single payer health care might still bubble up if HCR passes. The GOP hate the "we are all in this together" meme. Because it goes against their plans for rich people not to pay taxes and that whole god, gays & guns platform which requires a lack of empathy and a dislike of the "other".

19. APPEAR to be? Good god, it's their modus operandi.
They get elected bashing government, then they destroy government, then they say 'see? government doesn't work.'

What part of this have you missed over the last 30 years?
