Grimaud considers primary bid against Wilson
A military veteran and wealthy businessman is considering a primary challenge against Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), POLITICO has learned.

Joe Grimaud said in an interview that it’s not so much Wilson that he’s unhappy with but the entire political status quo.

“I’m just fed up and I think everybody else is fed up,” Grimaud said. “It’s about running against all incumbents. We need a change up there.”

It would not be the first time Grimaud faced Wilson; the two faced off in a primary before the incumbent was first elected in 2001. Grimaud won just 15% of the vote then.

But he also spent $387,000 of his own money in that contest and said he was willing to again reach into his own pocket.
