Pawlenty endorses McCain
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Thursday in his primary campaign for reelection.

“I’ve known him for 20 years or more, and I respect him and know that he’s got a candidate in the primary, but yeah I do support Sen. McCain,” Pawlenty told St. Louis radio host Jamie Allman.

Pawlenty again voiced his support later in the day for McCain when asked by a reporter for Minnesota Public Radio if he is backing the four-term senator over his conservative challenger, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.).

“I am,” Pawlenty responded.

Pawlenty is the latest high-profile national Republican to announce his support for McCain — who has collected endorsements from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin .
