Tony Perkins of Family Research Council Bumped From Prayer Lunch - May I say....
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/02/25/tony-perkins-of-family-research-council-bumped-from-national-pra/

Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council and a fierce critic of the Obama administration, says he was uninvited from participation in the National Prayer Luncheon scheduled for Thursday at Andrews Air Force Base.

The reason? Perkins says the diss was due to his full-throated opposition to Obama's support for ending the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy on gays serving in the military.

Invoking the witch hunts of the McCarthy era in the 1950s, Perkins said that like Communists of that era, he has been "blacklisted" for his views and renewed his argument that Obama would "force the military to embrace homosexuality":

"I am very concerned," Perkins said in a statement, "that this merely foreshadows the serious threat to religious liberty that would result from repeal of the current military eligibility law. Such legislation would not merely open the military to homosexuals. It would result in a zero-tolerance policy toward those who disapprove of homosexual conduct."

"Military chaplains would bear the heaviest burden. Would their sermons be censored to prevent them from preaching on biblical passages which describe homosexual conduct as a sin? Would they remain free to counsel soldiers troubled by same-sex attractions about the spiritual and psychological resources available to overcome those attractions? Any chaplain who holds to the millennia-old tradition of Judeo-Christian sexual morality could be denied promotion, or even be forced out of the military altogether."

May I say in my own little prayer to God? It's one word - AMEN!

My favorite part of his whine is "chaplains would bear the heaviest burden" ---- they'll actually have to behave like CHRIST and love all! Bahahaha... Perkins, you need an ENEMA!

1. "force the military to embrace homosexuality"
Funny how he juxtaposes "embrace" and "homosexuality", ain't it?

3. ooh! good catch. And I couldn't agree more with his comment about it forcing a zero-tolerance
policy towards those who oppose homosexuality ----

well, NO SHIT PERKY! Ya Think?! That's the point, dumbass! It's no different if we allow people to have intolerance against women, blacks, etc in the military... I'm glad he's catching on to the idea behind this! LOLOLOL

Seriously, where's he at so I can LAUGH AT HIM!

here's a beautiful natural action for these two guys pictured, but for the freepers lurkin' about that are drawn into this thread, may it make their heads explode!

2. I don't know what Perkins is all upset about. Obama favoring a repeal of DADT is
virtually a guarantee that it won't happen. I'll bet ya whatever you like DADT is still in place in November of 2012.

12. ...considering the repeal is going to be stuck into the 2011 defense budget,
I'll take that bet.

5. Of course he has no objection to the direct force of his religion on those in the military, huh?
I've heard so many stories about indoctrination of the folke in the Air Force Academy, and I'm sure it extends to the other branches as well. Of course he thinks THAT'S OK!!!!

7. The UnRec feature needs removed. When a story is fully about an asshat repug
slimeball like Tony Perkins, and freepers or anti-Gay members can knock a thread out of the greatest page, where it will receive heightened viewings, then there is a problem with the feature.

18. I don't think so. When a story deserves rec it will get it regardless of those
trying to circumvent it. I'm sure this one will get it.

8. Wow, rec'd. And he has the gall to invoke 'witch hunts' when that's
what he's been doing for years to various groups who don't agree with him?

Good on whoever made this decision!

11. Chaplins have managed to censor that whole "thou shalt not kill" thing
in an organization designed to do just that pretty well over the years, I'm sure they'll be able to accommodate this as well

17. All the more reason for chaplains to be restricted on their activities.
Counseling on base. OK

Preaching on base. No
Attending church or chapel services on base. No
Military can attend their preferred religious service off base. And not feel pressured to attend if they don't want to.

19. Cancel the entire "Prayer" activity(ies). I don't want any prayer
or religious recognition in my Capitol! They've been praying for years, even decades now, and yet everything keeps getting worse for most of us. . . get a clue, if there is a God, he's pissed at us (and US). QUIT PRAYING ON MY TAX DIMES!

26. ..."chaplains would bear the heaviest burden"...
They already face that when they have to deal w/soldiers that have killed civilians and feel great remorse.

A chaplain's job, no matter what the religion, is not easy by any stretch of the imagination.
