Hell has frozen over. Pigs are flying. Brooks and Shields agree it will be Reconciliation.
Of course, Shields sees it as a must, Brooks sees it as a mistake - but they both agree that for health care to move forward, it has to happen.

Hell freezing over again - Brooks saying that Obama was great yesterday and that it was an important meeting. But he did the typical BS line - it is a bad idea because HCR is so "unpopular".

Shields was very good, though, correcting all of Brooks' incorrect assertions about the whole affair. He said that as of the meeting, the HCR plan is now clearly Obama's which should remedy some of the unpopularity. (I wish someone would say that the plan is not nearly as unpopular as the media reports, because that is what they wish it to be!). What he essentially said is that Obama and the Democrats realize that PEOPLE MUST BE INSURED - COVERAGE EXPANDED. And Brooks sadly said that the Republicans don't have an idea of how to do that.

1. The Republicans have spent so much time being negative
That they couldn't come up with a good idea if their lives depended on it.

3. Brooks knows full well. Democrats believe Health Care is a Right
and Republicans believe Health Care is a Privilege.
It is not the Republicans have no idea of how to
expand coverage: rather they do not believe in expanded
coverage.

4. Democrats believe that it is the nature of man to live in community, and that this continues
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 08:17 PM by kenny blankenship
to be our nature, from prehistory and the origin of our species, right until today, despite the growth of large complex (stratified, alienated) society. On the other hand, Republicans believe that the barricaded ranch home was our ancestors' natural environment, and that if we venture far from the armed compounds of our nuclear family, past the mailbox and the end of the drive, a war of each against all will recommence, and it won't stop until the coming of the Lord Jesus and the Zombie Apocalypse.

9. Well put!
But Dems (progressives) believe not only is it in our nature to live in community, but it is in our INTEREST, and part of our evolution. To become "civilized," and realize, we are all - ALL - connected (humans, animals, ecosystems - trees, rivers, etc.).
