Few great quotes from the President's summit
Few great quotes from this surreal event:

  1. "If you think it's a socialist plot, then please drop out of the federal employees health program". (Dick Durbin)
    *

  2. "Let me just make this point, John, because we're not campaigning anymore. The election's over". (President smartass). "I'm reminded of it every day". (Even more excellent news for...).
    *

  3. "My colleague, Leader Boehner, the law of the land is there is no public funding of abortion, and there is no public funding of abortion in these bills and I don't want our listeners or viewers to get the wrong impression from what you said. Mr. Camp, you said that the Medicare cuts in this bill cut benefits for seniors. They do not. They do not. So I want the record to show just in those two cases, we may have differences of opinion and approach and evaluation of the value of different things, but certain things are facts about our bills that I cannot let the opposite view stand when they are stated". (Nancy Pelosi, wiping the floor with Camp and the Tan-Man).
    *

  4. "Studies have shown that the people who use health spending accounts have a lot of disposable income, and WE are talking about folks who DON'T". (President smartass).
    *

  5. Obama: "John Boehner, do you want to say anything in closing?". Tan-Man: "No". (Please don't cry).
    *

  6. "I asked a question .... and I didn't get an answer on it .... and you're wasting time...". (President smartass).
    *

  7. "Somehow you didn't reform health care when you had the WH, House and Senate". (President smartass).

  8. "Rep Barton, I couldn't quite follow your math, not sure you could either...". (President smartass).

  9. "You liked the idea of an exchange until I embraced it and then suddenly it became less of a good idea." (Well, you know).

  10. "This is great, I wasn't expecting this, I thought it would be Kabuki. The President has real guts for doing this!" (Howard Dean).

  11. "The most patient man in the world is Barack Obama". (Harry Reid).

  12. "Our President is a great leader". (Nancy Pelosi).

  13. "I have been here for 30 years and i can't remember an event like this". (Steny Hoyer).

21. It's like Evolution and Creation
just theories. Math has a notoriously liberal bias, ya know?

5. President smart ass.!!
That is great. Some other thoughts:

I too was thinking that this style of democracy has never been seen at this level.

Obama is coming thru on his promises.

Godspeed, sir. May your fruits be as many numbered as the stars.

6. McCain: "Why in the world then would we carve out 800,000
people in Florida that would not have their Medicare Advantage cut? Now, I propose blah, blah blah..."

Obama: "I think you make a legitimate point." McCain doesn't realize the president agrees and tries to argue.

McCain: "Well..."

Obama: "I do. Thank you."

McCain: "Thank you. Thank you very much."

Laughter all around, and ear-to-ear smile from Obama who gives McCain a wink and a look that says, "John, you're an idiot."

KnR!

8. Wow, these are great!!
Of course the McShame quote will live in posterity.

But to me the big slam them to the floor and rub their faces in it statement was ...

# "Somehow you didn't reform health care when you had the WH, House and Senate". (President smartass):spank:

Doesn't get any better than that on national television.

12. Great!
Some other things I liked were:

the President's ACME Insurance story

Max Baucus talking about Orbitz (in reference to putting up the Exchanges like Orbitz does for price comparison); and asking that Hospitals list their rates for different procedures. (Is that in the Bill? I LOVE that!)

On the break, a reporter asking Dick Durbin about "gapping the bridges" and Durbin chuckling & saying, "Oh, that's Eric Cantor... I prefer to think of it as bridging the gaps." LOL

"She wore her dead sister's teeth!" (Is Dental included? I didn't think so...)

Eric Cantor channeling Carrot Top... ;-)

The creative ways people were called 'liars.'

******************

In my opinion, the Summit was targeted to the people at home & the Blue Dogs. I don't think the President ever thought he'd get the republicans on board. It was, however, a great way to call them out on all their BS lies.

14. "you're wasting my time". I loved that part.
Obama was patient, way more then I could be. But his temper showed through on occasion and I liked that. Only so much one could take.

27. ...
More talk to distract us from the broken promises. WWF theatrics pitting "team" vs "team" while the corporate bidding is ultimately done. Sickening.
