re-election. Don't all presidents do this? The guy seems to just hate on everything now.

1. Ye shall not leave any foot out of this President's ass at any time....
We must hold his feet to the fire till they're burned to a crisp,
tie him up to a pole, and shit...let's just watch it it burn, baby, burn! :headbang:
It's a pile on party!
Reminds me of a Christmas Cards Wish....

When the "I told you so"s are worth more than the future,
in fact, there Priceless! Worth fighting for anyways!

:sarcasm:

2. Maybe he's angry because Obama doesn't seem to be working on much else. (Yes, I
know Bush left a mess, it's only been a year, I want a pony, it's only been a year and Bush left a mess.)

4. Another point of view.
I actually caught him on the Tavis Smiley show a while back where he said pretty much the same thing. He says it quite a bit nicer than I do but the thinking is still the same. Thanks to another poster for the heads up. I probably would have missed it otherwise.

http://blogs.alternet.org/racetalk/2010/02/24/a-conversation-with-dr-cornel-west/

Dr. Cornel West: Well, I think on a symbolic level I would give him an A in terms of uplifting the spirits and providing a sense of hope and possibility going into the inauguration and sustaining it up to a certain point. On a substantial level I would give him a C- when it comes to policy, when it comes to priority, when it comes to focusing on poor people and working people — which has to do with the vast majority of black people — that he has really not come through in any substantial and significant way.

We’ve got an interesting dynamic going on that at a symbolic level you’ve got this tremendous impact that is beginning now to run out of gas and on a substantial level, the C- — jobs, homes, education, health care — he has not been able to come through, and so he’s at a very pivotal moment in terms of black people. He can no longer take the black base for granted...

Too many paragraphs of truth in that interview to post on DU.

5. I respectfully disagree with Brother West,

But his job is that of a provocateur, not a Internet "Progressive" Shock Jock.

I have actually written Brother West a letter.

Insuring 31 million, many who are Black folks and other people of color, IS a priority that favors Black folks....because wayyyyy too many Black folks die due to lack of preventive care; diabetes, heart decease, and any other ailment you can name. Pres. Obama has staked his political career on saving those lives, so that's not nothing.

Which young 18 year olds tend to have their credit destroyed before they even reach the age of 21 because some credit card shark got them to thinking that credit was like free money down at the Community College campus on registration day? Why are there more check cashing establishment in some neighborhoods more than in others? Because folks with bad credit, tend to not have checking accounts. A lot of those folks happen to be people of color; Black people. The credit card bill that Obama send to congress ends this predatory practice. You don't think that's gonna save some folks' credit before they even get started? Without credit, one's entire life becomes handicapped.

Who is likely to have purchased a home with no money down, moved to the suburbs (cause they couldn't afford the city) where home values are now pummeling, so they find themselves with a home underwater and now can't find buyers (as real estate in the cities become affordable again) and are being foreclosed on? Who do you think qualifies for a modification for an negative AM loan they took out because it sounded really good at the time? Many are people of Color. In the Bay Area, places like Antioch, Tracy and Modesto are littered with Black families who are in just this fix. I know first hand, as many are people I know.

Where are the schools failing the children the most, because the "good" teachers want to teach in the "good" areas, which happen to be where the property taxes are higher because the property is valued at more? Usually in neighborhoods of people of Color (because, yes, things aren't equal).

Who is most likely to be unemployed and would need unemployment benefit extensions? See what the percentages are in a breakdown by race for your answer.

Who eats at McDonald (they don't call it Mickey-Ds for nothing) way more than they should because its quick and cheap, and grocery stores are not available in their neighborhoods (because you are right, things aren't equal)? Many are children of Color.

Back in the 40s through the 60s, even in the Oakland projects, mothers on welfare would grow gardens, even on a small patchwork of land. It stopped being done, not because it isn't possible, but because it's something that the recent generations haven't been "into".

And who many times lacks exercise, sometimes because there is no safe places to go to use up that energy after school, and parked in front of the TV under-exercised and overweight as youngsters? Many are Children of color.

So even something like Childhood Obesity, as well as organic gardening are also in a long run about folks of Color.

If you believe that Pres. Obama has to put labels on his programs and ballyhoo who they might help in order to win brownie points with the Black community, than I have misjudged that you might have an understanding of the difficulties of governing while Black. See, folks can do a whole lot of talking, but at the end of the day, what is it that any of the Black leaders are doing that makes them so much more? So righteous.

Pres. Obama has accomplished in the short 13 months that he has been in office, actually elected to be there as the President of all Americans, more than most Presidents have achieved in such a short period....considering that he inherited a whirlwind mess.

At least I am glad that "some" of those who have the ear of the Black Community "get that".
Sir, it is you who is taking Barack Obama for granted. Keep up the sharp critiques, and see what that gets us; gets those of us who don't have a University Job with health Care benefits.

respectfully,
