I believe if he were president, he would back the public option with his full weight.

9. That ticket would fail to win a single electoral vote
and would get about 30% of the vote.

Ideological purity is nice.... but it doesn't win national elections.

12. Well as long as we keep thinking like that, we will keep getting DLC
DINOs running for office. One of these days the status quo may get a big surprise, when a third party candidate like Ross Perot or Ralph Nader actually wins because people are so fed up with their corrupt political parties that they will make it happen.

13. Really?
Not single payer?

Of course, when he abandoned that effort before the public option vote, he was kicked to the curb by the all or nothing crowd.

People seem to have no clue about strategy, fighting until the reality of the situation is at hand and compromising to get the best bill possible. Weiner, unlike Kucinich, voted for the House health care bill.

Edited on Thu Feb-25-10 10:06 AM by ProgressOnTheMove
No time like the present to work for him for 2016. This gives us all the time in the world to make his name abundant everywhere. Weiner 2016 it doesn't jut mean hot dog. I believe the more we fight for this guy the more he'll fight for us, some names require strength and he's go it. I'm still enthusiastic for Judy Chu though maybe VP.

into a mic and they try to draft that person for President, because populist rhetortic is all it takes to become President. They don't want the best person to be President, they want the most bombastic. Alan Grayson? Really?

38. Yep. Anybody but Obama.
Everybody knows more, has more guts, is more progressive, smarter, everything. I wonder how the hell Obama got elected in the first place?. My dentist, my barber, the cab driver, everybody I know can be more effective as president than Obama.

Tomorrow there will be somebody else nobody knows who will say something sounding good and he/she will be our next candidate for 2012.

22. To replace the Republican that will win of we don't run a primary challenger in 2012?
Obama IS heading for only a single term unless the equation is changed.

I think a ticket like Howard Dean with Anthony Weiner would be a great one I could get behind then, and then the 2016 campaign would be for re-election for three straight terms of a Democrat, and a second term for a pair that might be beginning phase 2 of fixing all of the problems by BOTH Republicans and DemoratS that have been "running" the country since Reagan took office.

27. I'm still not convinced he would
have an easier time of getting it passed. Far, too many egos that need to be stroked in the Senate and a few in the house starting with Stupak. Not everyone wants the PO proof is in how only 24 Senators have signed up to do it through reconciliation to date. If they really wanted it we would already have the 50 plus Biden. Admire the guy’s passion though, but I’m still with Obama for 2012.

29. Fantasies are easy to support!
Supporting a President who has to actually deal with all of the shit,
well that's when some run in the other direction.

They want someone who always appears to be winning at everything,
even if it's nothing but talk....
but as soon as things aren't comfortable, folks are gone.
Peeps are fickle that way.
