WH to Release HCR proposal at 10am EST Tomorrow...
..... cant give you a link on this (sorry) just trust me ... every DC blogger has reported it on Twitter tonight.

Wonder if his speech to the Govs will be about this proposal? Because the speech to the NGA happens at 10am as well. Odd for them to step on their own headline unless he's going to be talking ABOUT the proposal.

We shall see......

13. That has been the first comment in a couple of other threads.
So, IMO, it was lame.

4. Word has it, it will be precisely what was agreed to in early January ...
before the Scott Brown debacle, and after the unions signed onto the excise tax. The House will essentially pass through the Senate bill, and then it will go through reconciliation in the Senate, with some possible amendments (maybe including public option, but no one believes that will happen; maybe Medicare expansion to 55-64 age group, which is sure to be accepted by the Parliamentarian into the reconciliation process).

This is simply finishing what was started before the legislatus interruptus. And it's how it HAS to work. They can't propose a totally new bill that would have to be debated in the Senate again.

8. It's good to be Canadian.
This nonsense game of so called healthcare reform for Americans is quite sad and when i get so involved in it i forget at times that i, thank god, dont have to deal with this. Eventually, americans will get real reform...just not for another 10+ years.

10. Except we beat you in hockey today
Just kidding. I love Canada. Your ice dancers rocked tonight, and are in line for the gold medal.

Truth be told, however, your system got started in 1946 (in Saskatchewan), and pretty much got nationalized by 1966. We would have had a better chance of changing the system if we had attacked this back when Truman first brought it up in the late 40s, too. Now, our system is so entrenched it is a more difficult situation. I don't know if the fact that the US has ten times the population of Canada makes any difference or not. Probably not ... except getting a national consensus might be harder.

because this is codifying the status quo.

5. Or they want some time for damage control
if the blogs freak out over what's in the health care bill. There's a press availability with Duncan after the governor's meeting. That's a little weird if the focus is going to be health care.

It's all in tomorrow's daily guidance. I don't know why some of these tweeters don't just post it on their blog.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/21/AR2010022104093.html

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will urge states to better prepare high school students for college and careers when he meets Monday with the nation's governors.

The White House said Sunday that Obama will praise governors for working in tandem with his Race to the Top program to reward school systems that raise standards and prove that through tougher student assessments.

19. Yes,
It'll be posted at 10 am.

Do yourself a favor. Even if you only read ten sentences out of an entire document, skim through it anyway. At least the ones that are important to you. It is really critical to decipher these things for yourself, as much as you can.

24. A couple of tidbits from Adriel Bettelheim...
The #hcr draft reflects roughly where Dem negotiators were before Scott Brown's victory in MA changed the politcal calculus in the Senate..

It incudes "corrections" House is seeking in the Senate bill. #hcr
