3. I would actually love for Paul to be the Republican nominee
Edited on Sat Feb-20-10 05:38 PM by Hippo_Tron
The President would kick his ass and Paul would raise some important issues like drug decriminalization and the military industrial complex.

Without the Republican calls of "weak on security" and "soft on crime" and "soft on drugs" the focus would be on domestic issues where libertarianism isn't going to win in this climate.

4. LOL, 50-state Obama landslide.
Hell, with none of the evangelicals turning out for Paul and pretty much everyone else voting Obama, it would be possible. There's not enough nutjob libertarians to elect Paul.

21. Nah
Idaho and Montana and their militia vote would go for Paul big time. We will never see a 50 state blowout.

That's why they hijacked his movement.

13. "54 percent of those who voted were age 18-25"
http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com/2010/02/20/ron-paul-wins-cpac-straw-poll/

....Has some interesting breakdowns, but it looks to me like Anonymous was having some fun. I'm guessing Rick Astley wasn't on the ballot.

26. You may be giving these people too much credit
for believing their stated principles. Sarah Palin is campaigning for Rand Paul - Ron Paul's son and his mirror image on issues. They value power and partisanship mostly.

19. It's a long shot, but it could happen
If Paul could organize get enough fringe votes in the right early primary states to edge out others, he could pull off the nomination. The general election would be a blowout, which would be very entertaining.

23. I don't know if I would call Paul fringe
A lot of younger Republican voters like him. He's no where near the Republican version of Obama though and the GOP would never accept him. He's not pro-corporate.

25. My wife always confuses him with RuPaul.....I can't see the resemblance, myself.
I would be overjoyed if Ron were the GOP choice for 2012, but remember tha last 2 CPAC choices were
George Allen (?) and Mitt Romney, neither of whom made a very big splash in the elections.

Ron Paul for President!!!11!! (Or was that RuPaul?)
