7. I agree
and despite how angry I am about a number of his choices and decisions, I'm okay with him staying on for eight full years, hopefully followed by a real liberal.

5. I'd be more confident if the election were tomorrow than in 2012
The President's approval numbers are in the 50's and presidents generally get re-elected with those numbers. Furthermore while some are not satisfied with the President's job, the Republicans at this stage don't have many compelling alternatives.

6. That graphic actually reminds me of a discussion I had with a Republican roommate
Before the '08 election he was ranting about how people were voting for Obama because he was "cool" and not because of his policies. I gently reminded him of how many people voted for Dumbya because of his fake cowboy persona and told him that he was just pissed that Democrats had finally figured out how to market a candidate well.

And honestly that's part of the reason I supported the guy in the primaries. I had no problem with Hillary but I thought Obama would be more marketable.

8. If Bush can win a second term, this will be a cake walk for Obama.

12. Bush didn't win a second term. Or a first.
Obama had the turnout to beat the fraud in 2008. Will he have it in 2012? Based on the last year, I would say probably not. He needs to remember that FDR was elected 4 times, and WHY. Because he did what needed to be done to save this country. If Obama followed a similar path, he could expect similar results (though only for a second term, because the Chickenshit Repukes made sure no Democrat could ever serve 4 terms again)

10. Well since you are making predictions
Do a search on the guy in 2005, which is the comparable time frame.

No one knows what the future holds. A new fuel source could be discovered tomorrow that the US has a monopoly on and we could all be at full employment in 2012 for all we know, or we could be living in a Mad Max from thunder dome reality.

In 2010, democratic candidates are going to have some problems as of right now. I think that is what people should be looking at.

14. Thunder Dome, you say?
Well, look at it this way--if that happens we can finally shoot the teabaggers rather than try to argue with them.

If not, he loses. Simple equation.

16. Nicely done! People have to remember that Reagan's numbers were lower than Obama's
at this point in time.

Four years...even a couple of months is an eternity in politics.

All this M$M punditry and Republican gloating about the so-called "impending doom" of the Democratic Party is way overblown. It's still far too early for people to be making bold statements.

18. I agree
but it wont be easy. The corporate media is going to do an all out media blitz on Obama during the election cycle. Every gaff will be labeled the new "Obama scandal." His words will be warped by the press and presented out of context. It's not going to be easy, but I think Obama should be able to pull it out.
