1. Yes, same people,

and Repugs have been working toward this result for a LONG time.

Hermann Goering:

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

"Education is dangerous - Every educated person is a future enemy."

3. Roger Ebert is awesome
I'm so sad about what has happened to him. He had his jaw removed surgically, for god's sake. Poor man. He still has lots of people that love him though. That's good.

5. They speak in one voice...
...one loud, obnoxious, lying voice and stick to the talking points du jour.

It's maddening.

7. Because he doesn't even try
How clear does it have to be? He's so consistent in reminding everyone that the reactionaries aren't bad people and that we can all come together while his henchman Rahm spends all his efforts strong-arming anyone who's to the left of center-right that even his skewed version of truth doesn't get any airtime. Energy is not spent hammering the right, it's spent smothering the left.

10. Lies through Fear will always get people's interest .. oh and Fox News repeating ad nauseam = Truth
It takes a very weak mind to believe something with little evidence..but sadly most Americans fit the bill.
