11. My response-
The usual, no commitments from my two Democratic Senators. "(the Senator) has not released a statement at this time."

Also, you might consider calling state offices because DC is almost impossible to get through.

Welcome to liberal Ca.

65. Called Dodd's Hartford office. Got live staff answering phones.
Dodd is undecided and out of the country on official business. That's interesting because he was in the NYC studio live on Morning Joe just this past Monday. Surely, he knew this was coming and had it figured out...

repukes they replaced (in Spectre's case, replacing himself with himself will wind up costing the Dems a seat).

8. So 80%+ of the people want it...Democrats have at least 51 to pass it....and yet NO..WTF?
THis is a clear sign that democrats are being bought and the WH (based on the Sunlight Foundation's evidence) desparately want to kill any chance of it because of their lousy deail to bankrupt america with the insurance companies.

The public option, although not a perfect solution (Single Payer is obviously the best solution to save money and save america) but without it the health bill is just a give away. But seeing as how democrats secretly dont want it to pass it tells me the focus should be on campaign finance reform...sadly how do you convince those that are corrupt to put new rules on themselves to not accept bribes....doesnt make sense...its like passing a bill to take a paycut...aint gonna happen.

44. Sincere question, why are so many really excited about this???
the bill is horrible, will cover virtually very few more, won't start for years, and will penalize those who can't affor to pay the profit mongers outrageous costs... plus being taxed on your bennies, up to 40%...Why so much excitement? Does nobody here really know what this bill entails? I will call my senators and tell them that...

Profit over people is the status quo... :(

73. It really is what we are dealing with now...
the spin is amazing...Keeping the private insurers in there at all defeats the whole purpose of a Medicare for All, the costs wouldn't be sustainable as the poor and sick would be the only ones to go public, its bound to fail...I think many legislators are sincere, but Universal health care can never be achieved with any profit base...No other industrialized country has private "for profit" insurance; there are private insurers, but not for profit only. Private Health Insurance Must Go!! www.PHIMG.org

57. If your reps and senators are on board, contact friends in states that aren't. This is what I sent
my friends in Oregon (I live in California).

If you've got your friend's zip code, you can find both of their senators and rep here:
http://www.contactingthecongress.org
and make it easier for them.

16 senators have signed a letter calling on Harry Reid to pass the public option through reconciliation, a maneuver that only requires a simple majority instead of two-thirds, so the Democrats could have enough votes to do it.

Jeff Merkley was one of the guys who started it, but Wyden hasn't committed yet.

Call his office today. This website will give you a short script. It will take less than a minute.

http://whipcongress.com/

I'll give you an even shorter one:

"Hi, has Senator Wyden signed the letter to Harry Reid demanding that the public option be passed through reconciliation?"

If they say YES say:

"Thank you. Tell him I'm glad he did."

If they say NO say:

"Could you tell him that I want him to sign it and I'm an Oregon voter?"

and that's it.

His digits:

DC: (202) 224-5244
Portland: (503) 326-7525

Pass this along to any other Oregonians who would prefer we have a health insurance system a little more like the rest of the civilized world.

84. Ezra Klein reporting (with Keith) that Dem leaders are terrified of this...
...public option movement - he says there is a failure of leadership at the WH right now. They still want to be seen as bipartisan.

85. Saw it too -- there IS no "bipartisan"
How can they want to be bipartisan when the other team will not play? At all.
Not one Repub is going to help the ENTIRE COUNTRY with health care reform (unfortunately, "insurance reform").
Not one.

Enough of that nonsense.

95. They are convinced that "the American people" want bipartisanship because "polls"
have shown that. I'm guessing that if they did some neutrally worded polls asking whether bipartisanship is more or less important than cutting the cost of health insurance, people wouldn't give a shit who was writing or voting for the bill.
