Va. to challenge Obama administration over global warming finding
Virginia's attorney general said Tuesday that the state will be the first in the nation to contest a key finding by the Obama administration that carbon dioxide is a danger to public health and contributes to global warming.

In a statement, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said he has filed petitions with the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington in hope of reversing the finding.

Cuccinelli's announcement indicates that Virginia, under Republican leadership, will take a much different line on climate change from the administration of former Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, a Democrat.

Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, had convened a Governor's Climate Change Commission during his time in Richmond and often spoke of the need for government to tackle global warming through various programs, policies and incentives.

Cuccinelli has called a news conference today to further discuss the case.

Also Tuesday, Republican state leaders in Texas said they were filing similar challenges to the EPA's ruling in December that six types of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, should be regulated as air pollutants in new fuels and engines.

1. Don't they have better things to do in Virgina? We have a budget crisis in CT.
And a gas plant that blew up. And a lot of other stuff to attend to. Doesn't McDonnell, Mr. False State of the Union, have something better to do with his administration?

3. Cuccinelli is a fundie anti-science crusader nutbar
he views the position of AG as an extension of the governor's policy-making wing (even Ashcroft would say he regularly oversteps his legal jurisdiction)...and he is also a shameless publicity hound...

I've already said my piece about Virginians who couldn't be bothered to vote in the last race, so I'll leave it at that.

2. For a party that hates lawyers and lawsuits, they're sure suing a lot these days...
The repukes that make up my county council are suing him over the Yucca Mt. closure. I understand my puke governor, Mark Sanford is doing the same. I find this all amusing, considering they more than welcomed the billions of dollars the federal government sent here over the past 60 years to operate nuclear production facilities at the Savannah River Site. No problem then. Let they hypocritical morons sue.

6. This is the legislature which recently banned the US Government
from inserting micro chips in American Citizens.

When asked about this, One VA Legislator responds--"It is in
the Bible."

Part of the Fundie belief in regards to Rapture and End Times.

The UN will become a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT and the Anti-Christ
will rule. "The Mark of the Beast" will be chips inserted
into each person. The Anti-Christ and his "government"
can track and control us."

Every Individual has a right to their own belief system.

However when a Government starts to appear to favor one sect
over all others and push their beliefs forward, this is
dangerous in my opinion. Why do the people of Va not
question this. Many Religions do belief in an after
life--but all do not subscribe to this particular theory.

Now they are changing Global Warming?????

8. Gee the have another thing now besides the blue pill ----
trash Obama. And since the republicans are in control of everything in Virginia they are using every dirty tactic in the book. I hate it because I have relatives there and there are a lot of poor who don't get a chance to reap any rewards, but damn it wish they would go bankrupt in the next couple of months and McDonnell goes bonkers.
