A hugely successful operation for the Commander-in-Chief
He is sure to draw blame everytime something goes wrong in Afghanistan, so now it's time for him to take some credit. We should be proud of President Obama. This recent operation has demonstrated that his stated objectives are being met. This is now Obama's war, and he apparently intends to win it:

"He is by far the most senior Taliban leader detained since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and his capture marks an important step in Pakistan's cooperation with the United States to hunt Afghan Taliban who use Pakistan as a safe haven to launch attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan."

2. It also reveals our growing invovlement in Pakistan.
We are getting more entangled there, even as we are expanding in the quagmire that is Afghanistan.

3. Unfortunately, you are correct. I has worried
me for some time. It seems there is no quagmire unattended by us.

6. Yes, as Senator Kerry says..
"capture of the Taliban's top military commander is proof of stronger cooperative effort" between the United States and Pakistan."

7. His war on public education? Pretty damned successful so far.
Afghanistan? Escalation is not a success. Success would mean we were no longer at war.

8. By your definition the Vietnam War was successful for the US
because we are no longer fighting it. Success means winning the war, and this operation brings us closer to that objective.

9. By my definition,
success in Viet Nam would have meant not going at all.

The same for this war. There is no "winning" a war on "terror." Terror isn't a nation, a fixed place, or a defined target.

"Winning," in this case, would mean putting an end to a bogus war and the bankrupting of the nation to fund it.
