Republicans exploring their legal options to deny Dems a Senate candidate in Indiana.
Two Democratic House members from Indiana, Baron P. Hill and Brad Ellsworth, quickly emerged as likely candidates to fill the vacancy. A third possibility was Jonathan Weinzapfel, the mayor of Evansville, Democratic officials said.

Democrats say that since no party candidate is likely to raise enough signatures to qualify for the ballot by the deadline on Friday, the state party will be allowed to select its Senate candidate. But Republicans are challenging that interpretation and said they were exploring their legal options to deny Democrats a candidate if no one meets the filing deadline.

1. Why yes, they hate democracy in action.

This is utterly ridiculous and just makes Republicans look bad. Maybe that is a good thing.

5. NOTHING that pukes ever do comes back to bite them in their ass. Even though it is obviously a
crass political move that should hurt them, people who vote for pukes have no standards to uphold, except victory at any cost. So, there is no making them "look bad."

Let's just hope they are not successful.

9. The dems pulled a similar stunt in TX in 2006
The 22nd district the reps could only have a write in candidate. It is wrong but both sides pull it.

about his traitorous behavior. He still had room on his voice mail. Get calling.

3. I hope James Bopp Jr makes the challenge.
And falls flat on his face.

It is very clear in Indiana law.

IC 3-13
Article 13 VACANCIES

IC 3-13-1
Chapter 1. Early Candidate Vacancies

IC 3-13-1-3
United States Senator or state office
Sec. 3. Except as provided in IC 3-10-8-7, a candidate vacancy for United States Senator or a state office shall be filled by the state committee of the political party.

Bayh has not filed for re-election. Therefore there is a vacancy unless someone else files with the required petitions.

Come on Bopp. Fall on your stupid face.
