Joe the Plumber goes rogue! Blames McCain for ruining his life, turns on Palin
Joe the Plumber goes rogue

Pennsylvania Public Radio's Scott Detrow reports from a conservative event in Harrisburg:

Wurzelbacher touched on several different points during his speech, and many of them were surprising. He said he doesn’t support Sarah Palin anymore. Why? Because she’s backing John McCain’s re-election effort. “John McCain is no public servant,” he told the room, calling the 2008 Republican nominee a career politician.

I pointed out he’d just be plain old Sam Wurzelbacher of Ohio — Joe the Plumber wouldn’t exist – without McCain. His response was blunt. “I don’t owe him s—. He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it.”

Wurzelbacher said, “McCain was trying to use me. I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.”

Sam's life was thoroughly screwed before John McCain ever entered it. He needs to look in the mirror more if he wants to see who is really responsible for his lot in life.

39. Yes. WHERE'S THAT GOOD OLD "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" JOE???
Edited on Sun Feb-14-10 11:15 AM by FormerDittoHead
Joe could have simply closed his door and shut his mouth.

HOWEVER...

We all need help from OUTSIDE of ourselves as we bend to external forces which can be too much for regular people. It's that simple.

Rush Limbaugh drugged himself to deafness and was a couple of steps away from jail until he went to a rehab.

This is why I hate such memes as 'personal responsibility'. That's why should we provide health care to poor people - because they are somehow responsible for their getting cancer. They should take 'personal responsibility'....

So the real-life story of Joe the Plumber is told time and again, but they cling onto the fantasy.

Time to get born-again, Joe!

75. The conservanazis eat their own.
Joe the Dildo owes whatever positive or negatives in his life to his own self.
He's just another conservanazi nutjob cashing in on trashing Obama.
Joe the wannabe plumber wasn't even licensed to do the job. Another "free market" wonder.

What he's doing now is what most of the true believer wingnuts do: being a hypocrite.

He and personal responsibility never met.

It's not like poor little Joe didn't get anything out of this evil embrace. McCain/Palin made him famous. He was a media darling for a whole lot longer than 15 minutes, which if I remember correctly he embraced whole heartedly.

So what's the problem Joe? You were more than happy to go along for the ride.

So the 15+ minutes are over and now you're going through withdrawl. It must suck to be so addicted to media attention that when it dries up you think your life is ruined.

So sorry.:nopity:

51. I would guess not...
The "Joe the Plumbers" of the world seem to always have one set of standards pertaining to "personal responsibility" as it relates to themselves and another set of standards to which they hold the rest of the populace. Still, I'm amazed that someone who seems to believe that his life was "screwed up" by his thrust into the public eye continues to give speeches at "conservative events"...

74. His first book received a five star rating over at Amazon

1,563 of 1,746 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of 5 stars Joe ain't no average American, March 2, 2009
By Gen. JC Christian, patriot

RINO spinmeisters, aided and abetted by the liberal media, have promoted Joe the Plumber as being an everyman, the archetypical "average American." This book shatters that image.

Joe the Plumber is not the "average American." He's the "average conservative," and I thank God for that.

Last year, the "average American" elected an Harvard educated constitutional law professor to the presidency. Average conservatives knew better. They rallied behind Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin, people like ourselves; people I proudly call "mediocre Americans."

And that's why Joe is still so immensely popular. He's angry, vicious, ignorant, and intellectually incurious. He's one of us, and like us, he didn't learn about public policy and international relations at a university or from books or journals; he learned everything he needed to know by tuning into Rush, Hannity, Savage, and Ingraham.

This is a great book, one every true conservative should buy, and more importantly, read. Yes, I know that sounds like a tall order, but it's an easy read. Joe uses one and two syllable words (many of them, written forms of various grunts) almost exclusively. If I have one complaint, it's that the publisher, Pearlgate, printed it in ink rather than crayon like the original manuscript. Other than that, I think it truly is the perfect book for the average conservative.

"Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" people never seem to be to blame for any of their decisions.
This is the guiding principle of the Tea Party movement. (And conservatism in general) If you can't get ahead, someone else is to blame.
Doesn't matter who. Minorities are convenient. Liberals too. If all else fails the gubmint is there.
The problems everyone else has are shitty choices. Your problems are the result of a conspiracy to keep you down.

You took it upon yourself, armed with only rush's bs talking points, to confront then Senator Obama. And because you weren't a plummer as you claimed, and did not have anything better to do with your time, you willing went on the InSane/Palin tour, then inserted yourself in foreign policy.

49. A perfect example of typical RW insanity...
It is always someone else's fault when things go awry.

Now I will be honest, upon occasion there are things that happen that we cannot control, and may be caused by other people... ie: a family on their way home from a vacation gets a sudden dose of reality because a drunk driver plows into their car. But when you get into the drunk's car, of your own volition, and then pass the driver another 4 beers...well, you see where this is going.

The RW'ers have this ability that escapes most sane people, they tend to blame anyone they can for whatever comes down the pike when things get a little "odd". "Joe" could have just gone on with his life, grabbing the plunger at odd hours and making a few dollars as he plugged along, instead, he had to plunge ahead and go for the Brass Ring...and he missed.

Everything that was involved in his "notoriety" was of a, (I suppose), well paid exercise in futility. He tied himself to the losing horse, then complained when it galloped away at breakneck speed.

He not only got into the drunk's car, he bought the extra beer for the driver, egged the driver on, stomped on the gas pedal and then took no blame for the wreck that occurred...typical RW behavior. Nothing has changed in WingNut World...:eyes:

52. While I'm no defender of McCain, and certainly not Moosealini
Edited on Sun Feb-14-10 02:57 PM by Sebastian Doyle
Samuel Joseph Weaselfucker is a hypocrite. McCain screwed up your life? No, dumbshit, he bought you that 15 minutes of fame that Andy Warhol seems to think everybody should get, and you milked it for all it was worth. You ain't the face of middle Americans, pal. You aren't even a goddamn plumber. Not legally, anyway.

Times up Sam. Now you go back to being unemployed like millions of others, thanks to the assholes you voted for over the last 30 years.

53. As of 12:01am on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 - he no longer mattered..
It's sad that now 15 months later he's just figuring that out.

On a positive note, he could thank Obama for doing everything he can to keep the man employed, and for NOT raising his taxes like he promised he wouldn't. But, I think "Joe" pretty much hates everyone now...

54. Joe is the typical whiner always blaming others for their failures
Edited on Sun Feb-14-10 03:14 PM by golfguru
I have run into many many of those kind in my life time.
It is never their own fault for screwing up their lives.
Here are some of the excuses:

I was abused as a child
I was discriminated
I had too much peer pressure to go bad
I invested with Madoff
I was born poor
.
.
You get my drift!
.
For every one of these whiners, there are 100 times other people who
had the same problem, worked their way out of it and became a success.
Count me in the non-whining group.

I was a poor immigrant, came here with $100 in my pocket, no relatives,
no friends, nothing.
I was discriminated based on my accent, national origin, skin color.
I made some terrible investments.

Yet today I am living the American dream.

60. Wow, be careful who you pluck out of obscurity to be the
face of the average republicon whining schmuck.

They mostly have a bunch of gopers for comments but I found this one..

"Palin is an Idiot and a Fraud, Joe the Plumber is no better, maybe even stupider if that's even possible. Poor Johnny McCain had to sell his soul to the far right for a shot at the Presidency, so I lost all respect for him. The Tea-baggers are nothing more than a bunch of racists and fear mongers who hide behind the cloak of "Fiscal Responsibility"- they don't believe that sh_t! They hate Obama because of his race and they fear any change because they may lose what they have taken! Finally, after eight years of a corrupt and borderline retarded leader, we finally have honest and intelligent leadership! thank God for Obama and you tea-baggers can keep dreaming of your NAZI Utopia!"

I know..he/she should have used "mentally challenged".

And should he evolve into being a Progressive I will be pleased to have him join us. Joe, if you have any questions on politics, we can help you here.

67. typical bagger
No, Sam.. you ruined your own life by exposing the fraud you always were and allowing yourself to be pimped out and your money taken by the two of them.

Take responsibility for what you did, what you said yes to, what you agreed to do. No one forced you to say yes when they asked you to join them. I saw no one twisting your arm behind your back and forcing you onstage with mooselini and grampy.

You never were the face of middle america... most of them pay their damn taxes like they're supposed to.

90. Wurzelbacher also told the room to lay off the extreme personal attacks on President Obama

Wurzelbacher also told the room to lay off the extreme personal attacks on President Obama. He said people who question whether Obama was born in the United States or compare him to Hitler “belittle and set back” the conservative movement. “The birthers, the truthers — if people are trying to bunch them , that would kill us. That just pushes away Democrats and independents who might come out for our cause otherwise.” He said he actually likes Obama, in some ways. “I think his ideology is un-American, but he’s one of the more honest politicians. At least he told us what he wanted to do.”
