From the Department of "Water is Wet"... More whining and excuse-making from the lead obstructionist.

Boehner: Summit not a real bipartisan attempt

As the harshest critic of the White House health care summit, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Saturday released the second statement in two days sniffing at the attempt at fostering some bipartisanship on health care reform.

Boehner seems to be setting expectations -- that the summit will be nothing more than a White House-scripted production masking a pre-determined outcome.

Boehner, however, does not suggest that either he or other Republicans plan to skip the event.

"A productive bipartisan discussion should begin with a clean sheet of paper. We now know that instead of starting the 'bipartisan' health care 'summit' on Feb. 25 with a clean sheet of paper, the president and his party intend to arrive with a new bill written behind closed doors exclusively by Democrats -- a backroom deal that will transform one-sixth of our nation's economy and affect every family and small business in America. They will then engage a largely handpicked audience in a televised 'dialogue' according to a script they have largely pre-determined. They will do this as a precursor to embarking on a legislative course that Democratic congressional aides acknowledge has also been pre-determined -- a partisan course that relies on parliamentary tricks to circumvent the will of the American people and engineer a pre-determined outcome. It doesn't sound much like bipartisanship to me."

3. Tough , big boy.
Republicans have been given FAR more chances than they deserve to be grown up officials of the government.

Parliamentary tricks are your party's strong suit.
I don't CARE one iota about your compalaints.
You and your pathetic obstructionist chronies don't represent the will of the American people that I know and talk with every day of my very normal life.

6. So he wants the Dems. to go on the REPUBS.' terms-"start over," scrapping all
the work the Dems. did in the past year. Why can't/shouldn't the Dems. come to the table with THEIR proposal and the Repubs. come to the table with THEIR proposal? Let's see what THEY came up with in the past year.

8. Exactly!! The repukes had 6 years to enact "Tort Reform"
and they did nothing about it. Same for all their other "Healthcare plans". The Republics don't want a compromise bill they want no bill at all.

10. Yup-"starting over" is code for doing NOTHING...
and on Feb. 25th, that will become apparent to everyone who watches the meeting on TV or hears about it on the news (hopefully).

12. They have to feed their mindless followers the talking point
so that when they emerge from this looking as foolish as they did the last time, the mindless followers already know that they were duped by the super mean President and the Democrats.

13. Boehner has a reading disability. The letter Obama sent to the
Congressional leadership was pretty clear. Yes, the Dems will come to the table with a proposed bill, but in the letter to the leadership, Obama said this:

"It is the President’s hope that the Republican congressional leadership will also put forward their own comprehensive bill to achieve those goals and make it available online as well."

http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Blair-House-Letter.pdf

Most of Boner's complaints are addressed directly in the letter, and just don't hold up. His response proves what we've known all along: The GOP has no plans and no intent to provide any ideas. If they come to this meeting, which I doubt they will, they will have their asses handed to them on a platter.

14. Have the Republicans provided bi-partisanship from 1995-2007
when they had majority control of the Senate?
