Openly gay soldiers from Germany and Britain are fighting with American troops in Afghanistan NOW
Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 09:59 PM by zulchzulu
Now that the corporate 24/7 Media is announcing that there are forces fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan (which I think is absolutely foolish), no one seems to mention that German, British and other troops are joining in the "effort" with American troops.

Both German and British troops allow for openly gay soldiers to serve in the military. Of course, there are other countries joining in.

Nowhere are any Republicans calling for British and German troops to not fight along with American troops. Their filthy comments that soldiers can't fight because gays might be in the trenches should come to the full level of discussion.

Are American troops in danger because allies, who also have universal health care, also be at risk because gays are allowed to serve in the trenches?

I ask any Republican to respond.

1. That's an excellent point
Someone needs to bring this up in the media.

5. That's too difficult a concept for the media. They're focused on
Tiger Woods still. Jiggles in the Morning gushes on about him every morning.

4. Ironically, in this regard we are alligned with Cuba and Venezuela
What do the conservatives think of being in bed (metaphorically speaking) with Castro and Chavez on this issue?

Meanwhile our strongest allies, and the sweethearts of the conservatives, Britain and Israel, treat gays and straights equally.

8. Our gay soldiers can marry too
Well, in all but name anyway. It's called Domestic Partnership but it's considered identical in law. They can even marry in full dress uniform like straight people if they so choose.

Total effect? Need to build a few more married couples quarters. Otherwise zero.

9. Very good post, you make a good point......
I guess it's ok for gay troops from OTHER countries to serve along side our troops but gay American soldiers serving along side straight American soldiers is not ok according to republicans. Are American gays somehow not as "worthy" to serve as gay soldiers from other countries?

It's not ok for us to have universal health care but it's ok for all other industrialized countries to have it, it's how republicans see things. It's ok for others to have nice things but YOU can't have it.
