Is there any good news anywhere reguarding HCR?
You folks all seem more confident than I am feeling today?

I need a glimmer of hope, anybody got one?

1. Well, for some people here and everyone on the right, the bill seems to have been killed.
That kind of Hopesy Changy thing makes some progressives and all conservatives happy.

But for those of us who want to see some help, not so much.

2. It's good that it's dead
It was lousy in the House version, awful in the Senate version, shaping up to be suicidal in the conference committee negotiations, and if any compromise is reached with the Rethugs, it would be downright criminal.

3. I had such high hopes
I can't believe I was pleased when the big insurance companies were among the first to come out in favor of it.

I actually thought(back last summer) it was a good sign.

I was horribly wrong

7. Want some hope?
OK, after the "shift the blame to the Republicans" summit in the near future, you won't hear anything more about HCR, because it's an election year. Look at what this Anthem insurance company did, even without HCR, they jacked premiums through the roof, and other companies are going to do the same thing.

We'll have a LOT more Americans on our side, and against the health insurance companies in another year, because the health ins. co's will show that all they are is money grubbing assholes, even without having HCR as their lame-o excuse. Even if we get a bit of a drubbing in 2010, we can hit this thing hard in 2013 after Obama's re-election (nobody wants a President Palin!) with a Congress that has been purged of Blue Dogs that lose this fall.

Every new Presidential term has enough political capital to perform one big fat event, for President Obama, it was the stimulus package. It should produce a robust economy by 2012, when we get our majority back, and it's with solid progressives, rather than the spineless idiots we've been moaning about for the last year.

Let's face it, I'd rather have a nice single payer plan that takes effect in 2013 or 2014, rather that the tepid dog poop that Congress has produced that won't take effect until the same time frame, anyway. All we need is more people on our side, and we'll have them in a year or three.

12. And under this bill
most of them wouldn't have it until 2013 anyway. And when they do get theoretical access to it, they won't be able to afford it.

Let's see if we can get the kind of Congress we need to get true health care, not health insurance reform that just lines the pockets of the ins. company fatcats.

6. The lords and masters our political reps really serve.
They are. What you need to do is become one of the 1%, then you'll have no worries.
