Poll question: Do you support the Democratic majorities forcing through bills in any manner they can succeed?
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 03:52 PM by Divine Discontent
We've given the Grand Obstructionist Party a year to come around to Obama's attempts at bipartisanship & they have refused every single step of the way.

I wonder if the couple dozen Democratic reps & senators who will lose election this year, unless things change, are for a firm agreement to do what the GOP did with less seats of power that B*sh got rammed through - which was to use a simple majority to force their agenda.

I think Obama had a noble idea in trying to get these birthers and racial haters to work with him and the Democratically controlled Congress, but, I don't see them coming out of their mud, and so it seems futile. And how sad is it that these centrist Democrats who have not worked with the progressive Democrat majority have made their own bed, and many of them are in trouble for re-election by having very little to show in terms of accomplishments.

Are you for Congress realizing some of their members only hope is for the Democrats to ignore the GOP, because they are only out to obstruct and destroy us, not work with us?

5. LOL!!! good 1. I suggest they wisen up to the huge majorities we've been blessed with as a party &
hammer through these issues by Mr. Bipartisanship getting tough as "President Obama" and dropping the hammer down the obstructionists within OUR party, and getting through reforms we want. The WH and the leaders of Congress should threaten to take all the centrist and right leaning people out of positions of power unless they vote our way - because - if they don't, we're going to lose lots of seats this year, and that pisses me off. Obama needs to show strong leadership here. Having a meeting with repubs over HCR is a ploy to embarrass them (at least I hope he thinks it that way) because they won't want to do it after what happened last week. I hope that is a move by him to say, when you say no to my request to appear in a televised debate on it, then back off about blocking my policies....

4. I picked yes ....
It seems the only way to get anything done and to break the gridlock that Obama created. I'm sorry. I don't think what he did was "noble." He was elected to be a Democrat not a Republican and not to cater to Republicans. He could have helped the Democrats in Congress to get legislation through long before they had to resort to this. Legislation sausage factory style.

6. and who really wants a sausage bill. they're a mess. I'll correct what I said and say he had a
noble idea, thinking the GOP would work in a bipartisan way with him, but it's was foolish to think these hateful idiots would even once do something for the good of the people. He needs to get really tough on them, as does those who control the Congress, or we're doomed as a party.

14. Nothing would please me better ...
Still not all sausages are bad. Maybe there will be some good bits there too. ;)

I would just like to see some legislative movement that would provide a helping hand. Life kind of sucks right now and we need a new direction. There is very little left to lose anymore.

8. Other: I support Democrats putting through DEMOCRATIC bills
by any means necessary and I do mean any.

I'd rather have to apologize for distasteful tactics than woeful, indefensible, and unacceptable results.

9. Yes!
That's what winning means.

Unless of course, they were lying to us all along and they really are in the pockets of the corporate masters, which I have to say, is more and more what it is looking like.

10. Of course, it depends on WHAT bills they force through. Sorry - cannot type that with a straight
face.

We know they will do no such thing.

But in my fantasy world, they would.

Of course, in my fantasy world, pukes do not exist so the problem does not exist. Then, we would only have to work on getting democrats to act responsibly.

11. I expect them to act like fucking DEMOCRATS
Which is what so many have NOT done regarding health care. Or these ridiculous wars and the bullshit mythology used to excuse them. Or countless other bullshit agendas in the last 30 years.

12. They should
continue to reach out to the GOP to expose them as the disingenuous obstructionists that they are.

That said, they should push through bills that will benefit the overwhelming majority of United States citizens. We've had a Republican majority, we've tried their way and it has failed miserably.

We need to support issues we believe in and not stand on the sideline expecting them to get it done. Many politicians are not going to work aggressively for issue X if they perceive public support to be low. I wish they would simply do what they believe is right or what they were elected to do and it doesn't always work out that way.

every opportunity to come to the table with ideas and participate in government. At some point government has to function with our without the Repugs...........
