Joe Scarborough: Sarah Palin ain't going to win NH, SC, NC or any other Southern State
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 02:27 PM by bigdarryl
she's going to find out (if she runs in 2012) the process is very competitive.he basically said in so many words she's not winning the 2012 nomination for the rethugs JUST ON Big Ed Show. What I think is going on here is the establishment in the rethug party hate the media telling them who there nominee should be.And I think a lot of those guys in that party don't want any woman as there nominee ESPECIALLY AN AIR HEAD!!!!!!

10. only if she gets 10-15 pts of intelligence juiced into her brain. no nom is going to put her on the
ticket unless she shows more competence. Yes, she can raise money, but the nom for the GOP would rather just appease her by meeting with her and using her to raise $ and supporting the nom.

She's far too dumb for most GOPers to vote for, well, I mean enough in a primary. They'll be someone else they vote for over her by a 2-1 margin. She'll get her votes, but not enough to win more than a couple states in the south and the upper northwest.

Not only is she a moron, she is a moron with the loyalty of a snake ... NOT A CHANCE any repuke puts this lady on the ticket only to have her be a complete loose cannon, be a disaster in all but completely defined settings, then turn on the candidate when it goes bad ...

And that is exactly how she'll portray herself when the time comes.

2. Scar is a jerk, but...
He's correct here. The extremists who control that party love Sarah, but she is a woman, and they, like minorities and gays, need to be "kept in their places." If she thinks she's anything more than an object used to stir up the masses, she's in for a real rude awakening.

5. Yeah ...
Everyone wants to make the Jr comparisons, but a few things ...

1) As noted, while she is white, she ain't a man ...
2) Bush was from the power structure, he was friggen born into it ... She is ... Nobody ...
3) Bush also was the PERFECT president in that he was the perfect balance of being an anti-social personality and he had no interest in actually doing the job. He got to jet around the world and have everyone kiss his butt and act the part, but he had NO, ZERO interest in policy, and while not stupid enough to not know what they were doing, he is mean enough underneath to fully appreciate what they were doing ... The PERFECT empty suit ...
4) Palin is COMPLETELY unpredictable and unmanageable ... Bush was VERY predictable and manageable - GW, here is your bottle of whisky, we have you set for a round of golf, sign these papers ...
5) She does NOT have the ability to mount a national campaign. She is not dedicated enough to work hard at it, she is FAR to eratic, and the REAL pros you need to have in a campaign will not sign up for her. They don't want to be embarrased or abused, they want to be with a winner ...
6) What anyone with ANY brains, see the people in 5 know is that the more she is exposed, the more she repulses all but the most extreme of the right wing ... She will be a DISASTER in open political forums ...

People think that Mittens and whoever are going to go after her, but they won't ... They will let her crash and burn, then blame her crashing on the evil media and liberals while the competition breaks out to gain her wingnut supporters ...

They don't want her. They (and many others) know that if she is the nominee, Obama is in for another four years.

12. The Republicans won't allow it. They'll sink her themselves
if they have to.

Tweety is right about one thing. The GOP likes to push their former losers as the nominee for the next election. It's just another example of their tired, old white-boy ways that will never change. They'll push Romney, and if not him, someone who they see as a hot-shot newcomer like Scott Brown.

13. I'm not so sure that the republicans control their own party anymore..
Especially in some areas. They GOP land of "moderate" Republicans have been over-run by Tea-bagging bible-thumpers with little to no common sense.

78% of the GOP thinks that Obama is a Socialist.
50% don't think he was born in America

You think that party is controlled by people who can run the party?

I think Palin might win the nomination if she takes a run for it.. as horrifying as that may be. I do think that there are enough Independants that see her for what she really is that I don't need to be too worried. But I still am.. a little.

17. That is exactly why they will take her out.
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 04:29 PM by Phx_Dem
They've lost control of their own party and they'll be afraid that she will further split the party (ala Ross Perot in '92). They don't need party control to destroy her, they have enough hatchet-men to do the job, and God knows, there is ample material.

The GOP will want "one of their own" in the big seat. Palin is impulsive and doesn't listen to anyone else. The GOP is known as the borg party for a good reason -- they all fall in lock step. Palin doesn't.

19. But no one "controls" Palin.. she's bat-shit crazy and seems to revel in
going up against "authority". I think the harder the Rank & File GOP try to "stop" her, the more it's going to push her to run. I think she hates the McCain type GOP esablishment more then democrats sometimes.

At this point, her crack-pipe supporters are in love with her no matter what.. she can do no wrong. Write your notes on your hand? How Folksy! Don't know the capitals of most major countries? Well, neither do I so it's totally OK.

The people who support Palin will justify anything she does or does not do. She quit her last friggin elected job, and NONE of them seem to care. There isn't anything the GOP can do to "hurt" her, because her supporters will justify it as the big evil GOP trying to hold her down.

And, she doesn't need as much $$$ when she's a commentator on Fox and can get her message (or lack there of) out whenever she wants to.

26. Exactly! The 'powers that be" in the GOP don't want anyone they can't control.
The GOP hatch men could destroy her without even trying. They did to McCain in 2000 and he was a war hero. Her supporters can defend her until they croak, but there aren't nearly enough of them to put her into the White House.

43. Yup.. and Tancrenado..
I agree, I think Palin has a whole lot more support then many here want to admit. We can't grasp the thought that so many people are that nuts.. but I know many who like her.

How about this - she has more supporters as a group then any other GOPer does by far. So even though She might only have 35% of the GOP, no one else has even 10% - she is way ahead here.

There isn't much moderation left in that party any more.. if they're moderate they turned into "Independants" after the Bush Fiasco. What was left was a bunch of far-right, freak conservatives who like tag lines, but don't understand how government works.

15. I don't know about Reagan, but the GOP, collectively, LOVED Bush.
They DO NOT love Sarah Palin. I'm sure there are a few here and there that like her, but she is not loved by the GOP.

Regardless what the rank-in-filers think, the party "bosses" will not let her be their nominee, which means they won't want her splitting their party vote either so they'll take her out.

I know people keep saying, don't underestimate Palin. Well I couldn't possibly underestimate her anymore than I do, and I am not at all concerned about her presidential aspirations.

16. Is this Joe's stopped clock moment?
The thing is, the Republican National Committee knows Sarah can't win. Less than five percent of the electorate seriously wants President Palin, Vice President Palin or even Dog Catcher Palin. But...five percent of the electorate is still about six million votes and they need all of them. Her highest purpose in the 2012 election is going to be to bring the tea party to the polls--to vote Republican.

18. The cat is out of the bag that the Teabaggers are just Republicans
and they let it out on C-SPAN for everyone to see. Their grassroots organization/canvassing expert laid it all out-the folks who are registered Republican and always vote Republican "can be trusted to do the right thing", he said and there was not an iota of pushback just nodding agreement and that says it all to me.

This is a corporate Republican creation and it will have corporate Republican ends. All the independent talk is a smokescreen that the blind should see right through.

44. My defense of Joe Scar (fancy that!)
I think it's more than a stopped clock moment. I don't agree with his views on issues but I do trust him enough to give us a decent insight into what is going on in the Rethug camp. As one of them (establishment GOP) he is able to get the scuttlebutt that more liberal journos would not have access to. As a conservative journo, at least he doesn't appear insane, ala Beck and Rush and the rest of the Faux douchebags.
That's all the defending he's going to get from me tonight!

42. If he is talking Primaries, He is right about NH , but not about NC and SC
She has a pretty easy path to the nomination.. Lock up the endorsement of the Christian Coalition in Iowa. bypass NH and win in South Carolina.

What Joe does not get is that what Palin has as her biggest strength in the South is that she is "familiar". Not in the political sense, but in the 'She reminds me of my friend fro Church" type of familiarity.... It's an intangible quality and part of the adoration with her. It is horrid. It is blind and naive. but the "she is one ouf...I am comfortable with her" is a powerful thing.

It will play very well with much of the upstate crowd in SC who will clearly get and and vote in the GOP Primary. Right now....she wins SC going away and thats the catapult for the lion's share on Super Tuesday. South Carolina picks the GOP nominee.
