I'm guessing Shelby will be shooting his mouth off on some of the news shows tomorrow or next week. Maybe the President should make a surprise guest appearance and address Senator Shelby's "concerns" on the air. }(

5. Heard it on Countdown, here's a link from TPM.
The last paragraph reads: "Sen. Shelby will continue to work with the FBI to give them the capability to coordinate intelligence as well as forensic and technical exploitation related to IEDs, but this administration's coddling of terrorists makes this an uphill effort. He has made the Administration aware of these concerns and is willing to discuss them at any time."

My take is that many, and quite possibly all, of these holds have nothing to do with Shelby's alleged concerns. It's extortion and deserves to be exposed as such. If a WH spokesperson is going to be sent out to shoot down his talking points (which seems likely), why not send out the WH spokesperson?

3. No need for the President to discuss anything with him.
Ignoring him is all that is called for.

7. This is how the conversation should go:
You get a penny for every pork barrel project you want. As long as I'm in office, that's the way it will stay.
