Perhaps we should kill the bill and give a billion $ to community health centers
I think we can pass this and provide medical treatment to anyone that wanted to use the CHC.

I have for profit health insurance that does not allow me access to affordable medical treatment..

9. I could KISS you for saying that!
I think I will!!! MMMMMWWWWWWWAAAAAAA!!!!

I'm of the general belief that people who do a certain job know more about it than people who don't .... and I'm usually of the opinion if someone of Bernie's ilk is inclined to vote in favor of the bill, even if he concedes it could have been better, then it's not total crap. :)

But the notion that the actual members of the Senate MIGHT just know more on the matter at hand than WE do is a rare thing around here.

7. Are you sure about that?
What he really wants is single payer universal healthcare for everyone.

But since Congress (and Obama) are too weasley to do that, he might think that would be an acceptable alternative.

Maybe not, but the idea is more straightforward than this baroque, cobbled-together mess they are about to inflict on the country.

8. Plus everyone who is happy w. their care can keep it
but everyone would have access to medical care, if they wanted to go to the CHC.

10. He voted to pass the bill didn't he?
I suspect that old Bernie is more of a pragmatist than we might think. ;)

13. He's a pissed off pragmatist -- That's why I like him
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 12:50 AM by Armstead
He's going to go along with it, but he is pissed and he is makes no bones about it. And he is going to keep on fighting for what is right.

He's been doing it ever since he came to Congress. You should hear videos of his ripping into Alan Greenspan in hearings in the 90's, when Greenspan was considered the God of the Economy by both parties.

We need more like him.

2. It'll take a Brazillion years to 'fix'
What we're dealing with now -- so
why not.

5. like NAFTA, there will be no fix, we will just deal
I still don't see how giving poor people unusable insurance will increase access to medical treatment..

4. I've got a community health clinic
about 60 miles away and they are too crowded to take anybody except emergencies.

My subsidized for profit health insurance, on the other hand, has gotten me health care for 3 years now.

We cannot build enough clinics to solve the health care problem.

6. who subsidized your insurance sandnsea?
My insurance was fine when I was not sick. Now I am sick and can't afford treatment.

12. The State of Oregon
The insurance paid for hubby's Hep 3 treatment, triple hernia surgery, a 20 year old cyst in his leg, back treatments, plus a bunch of medications. It paid for my mammogram and second opinion ultrasound, plus annual diabetic and thyroid check-up, and medications. I dare say we'd literally be dead without it. We still have medical bill problems, but at least we get health care.

That's what frustrates me about the opposition last year. If we had just stuck with the HELP plan in June, we would be so far ahead. I don't like the Senate plan, it's not enough, but at least it's a start.

14. Even with a billion dollars, community health centers would not service...
the 45 million people without health-care.

It wouldn't help those of us who pay for the nose for insurance because we can not stand the idea of letting our wives or children die so we can save a few bucks.

Sorry, we need the bill and we need health care. It isn't perfect, but it is a start.
