I would have a very hard time being part of a GOTV effort for Harold Ford

Of course, if Harold Ford wins the primary, I will not post here at DU in opposition to him.
But I will state that I would have a very hard time being part of a GOTV effort that supports Harold Ford.

An I wouldn't care if one could prove Ford wasn't DLC I still wouldn't vote for the moderate fucker...I despise all fucking moderates, maybe even worse than republicans.

17. Any reason why - given that he lags in the polls,
has been annoying conservative in all his millions of media apperances since he lost in TN, and who has no supprort from NY DEMOCRATS. I did hear Bloomberg likes him - maybe he should run in either Senate race as a Republican - and lose to either Gillibrand or Schumer.

18. 3 main reasons...
1. He can talk/explain/speech/debate better than his opponents.

2. NY has large amount of A-A voters. Will break 90% for Ford.

3. Ford is right of Gillibrand....good for Ford based on Massachusetts.

25. Interesting reasons
Edited on Tue Feb-02-10 08:41 AM by karynnj
1) I think both Gillibrand (and Schumer) is a very capable speaker - easily competitive with Ford.

2) NY does have about 17% African American voters. As they are predominantly Democratic, they have a much larger share of the Democrats, So, this is a good point. However, I have seen nothing suggesting Ford will get 90% of their vote. You may have a point on this one.

3) The underlying results do not suggest that MA, as a state, moved to the right. Democratic strongholds had far lower turnouts. But, even amoung those who voted, "exit polls" showed that Obama's approval was above 50%.

Now is MA, Brown was able to appear a populist. Ford is/was the head of the DLC - an organization NEVER called populist.

11. Harold Ford is a flaming homophobe!
Ford is also opposed to abortion rights.

No self-respecting person could vote for Ford.

I think Ford only got into the race to prove how moderate the current senator is.

13. Gillibrand is leading Ford in this poll:
New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand still holds a significant lead over former Tennessee congressman Harold Ford Jr. in a potential Democratic primary matchup, according to a new Marist survey (Jan. 25-27, 838 RV, MoE +/- 3.5%). The two leading Democrats poll much closer in NYC, where more than half of primary voters reside, while Gillibrand extends her lead Upstate.

Gillibrand 44
Ford 27
Tasini 4
Und 25

I doubt that carpet bagging, lying fool can win in NY.

24. I'm not a NYer, so I'm not getting involved.
It would be nice if washed up southern DLC politicians who don't have the charm to get elected in their home states despite their conservative tendencies would be willing to say the same.
