****Heads Up: POTUS Speaks To House gNOp members, 12pm EST ****
I'm posting this now since I wont be here when it starts, but apparently the President's remarks AND the Q&A session will be OPEN press meaning we get to hear it too!

Audio Stream
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/

CSPAN (link not live yet but you can access it when it is from here)
http://cspan.org/

This will be a chance for House GOP members to grandstand in front of the President for the benefit of the cameras and the voters back home. Should be interesting.

3. I have this vision of a slightly more polite summer town hall meeting...
.... you know like what the GOP did last year during the health care mess.

There will either be members of Congress showing their hind ends or there will be nothing but awkward civility.

although I admit I love hearing him do it. Occasionally Bernie gets caught up in the back and forth. I'm sure there's a few more examples but like I wrote, the balance swings very heavily towards the right. It's their bread and butter. I don't think the democrats are generally predisposed towards doing it as a regular tactic, they usually get sucked into it in the course of getting frustrated and fighting back. There's a difference.

225. Absolutely not
The thing most Democrats don't get is how they are sucked into responding to the crazy Republican death panel and "born in Kenya" arguments. Defending yourself against those arguments is exactly what the republicans want. At that point you're playing a game according to their rules. Then all they have to do is keep the argument going. The more time is spent discussing this sort of garbage, especially on tv, and especially when the response is "but the republicans..." or "but Bush..." the less time is spent on actually solving problems and governing. Does anyone ever wonder why, no matter what evidence is put forth, the republicans still stick to their wacky assertions? It's done in order to keep the argument going. It's got nothing to do with logic or being rational.

137. I used to work in a law office with attorneys who did them.
I scheduled their appointments and I had to clear every potential malpractice case with the attorneys before a potential client could even see one. They rejected 95% of people who called, not because the people hadn't had legitimately bad experiences, but because they knew they wouldn't win them. Juries are very sympathetic to doctors.

Came in with $8 trillion worth of debt over the next decade.

Two wars that weren't paid for.

Prescription drug plan that wasn't paid for.

Lost revenue of $3 trillion from recession.

together would make it kind of hard for their constiuents to point fingers. Everybody and nobody is to blame, depending on what side of the issue you're on. The "or else" would be eliminated.

I don't think the party of "no" can count on independents putting them in office if they continue their do-nothing agenda. Especially if we shine a spotlight on them for the next 11 months.

And let me tell you something. It has snowed four inches down here in SE TN ... we do NOT DO snow and ice in this part of the world ... took me an hour and 15mins to take what is usually a 20 minute drive .... this was one of the scariest moments of my life (we dont have snow plows.)
