There are many things that Obama has done that are wonderful...

They have been well outlined in several threads here.

But there are also at least a couple of things that are awful, terrible decisions. These are the renewal of the Patriot Act, and the continuing war in Afghanistan.

I know he didn't promise us anything in regards to those, but still, I find his decisions on those fronts very objectionable..

I would never vote for the kind of Republican that is likely to run for that high office.

And I expect to vote for him in 2012.

But my support then and now does not mean that I support everything he has done to date. I wish he had taken a much different path.

17. I agree with you that Obama has done a few good things.

Most of the long lists posted here by the Fan Club are filled with fluff and things Obama doesn't really deserve personal credit for, but he has done a few highly commendable things. The new arrangement of deck chairs is magnificent!

The more-trickle-down-than-ever economy, health care, ongoing wars and illegal occupations, looming environmental disaster with zero remedial action, and continuing abbrogations of civil liberties...not so much.

I'm *extremely* disappointed in Obama, not that I expected all that much, but he is *far* to the right of where he campaigned.

The Patriot Act hasn't even reached the floor of the Senate yet. The House stripped out all the bad things. No decision on Afghanistan has been announced.

21. I think DU is providing a disservice on occasion

because of disinformation that seeps into here that people buy. Seems too much like the r/w for my taste.

I don't agree with the President on everything either, but I'm not willing to discount him at this point. And yes, it's a year in; I think he's done a lot of great things for our country, primarily restoring some prestige in our standing with the rest of the world.

I'm just going to wait and see, while emphasizing the good that's goin' on.
